Digital Birds in an Analogue world.... freshly streamed.
Quite a messy patch, full notes would be a bit messy too!
Patchingpanda Punch bird song made with a resonating Omsonic FLF with Punch is plucking at it and triggers from the Befacosynth Burst and looping in Makenoisemusic Mimeophon :)

I get the distinct impression that I use Marbles and the 2hp TM for distinctly different things, I find the TM+Tune better for simple bass lines with a beat whereas Marbles doesn't seem quite as usable like that.... Marbles is probably great and I just need to twiddle the knobs to different settings.

Talking of Doubling up the SINE inputs to Timbre Seriously Top Tips there, I've been using the output of 2x resonant filters as my sound sources and I'm getting some Mad interesting sound sculptures out of Timbre into Clouds :) Then riding the filter cut-offs for the sine tone gets crazy AF!
Much happy noodling with dark ambient madness!

I don't have a Ceis but I'm interested to know how it Steps through?
I had assumed from looking at it when thinking about buying one that the only Steps are the Gates generated that come from the A.D.S.R points and that the actual envelope that is made simply flows like you would expect from any ADSR module.
You will get a different effect depending on whether you are sending it a Trigger or a Gate, the length of gate corresponding to the SUSTAIN section as the level that the sound holds while the key is pressed, even my A-R envelopes (PipSlope) respect the Gate length versus sending it a simple Clock or Trigger.

Did you have any 1HP gap on your Rackbrute 6U? I found that after I put in 88HP of modules, there is a 1HP gap...if you had that as well and still had overheating issues, I'm going to be concerned.

Talking of heat, I think the Rackbrute case I bought had a problem, it got really hot and smelled like burning plastic and made the room stink. This ended up going back to the supplier who fit a new Power supply and sent it back. I'd lost faith in it by this point so left it boxed up and sold it on.
I'd never had a problem with my TipTop uZeus (x2) or my subsequent KonstantLab Power, I even found some of my modules ran cooler when NOT in the Rackbrute.
Hopefully this was a one-off and you'll have a good experience with Arturia.

Ahh, OK.... The closest I get to Buchla is the DannySound Timbre being fed a Sine or Triangle wave. I've just been playing with it to make a slightly acid line letting the envelope tweak the Timbre. I keep meaning to use a very slow LFO to try make a very long evolving note, and I've made a beefy Kick sound from it feeding it from the ADDAC103.
I must experiment more.

Thanks all :)
@Farkas - So you favoured triggers and gate flow, I think my original favoured Pitch flow, things do get tight with the 2hp modules even with some of the others, if there are a stack of jacks filling one module then the Pots on the module next to it can be almost impossible to tweak. I can see some interesting sounds coming from mixing the outputs of the Befaco EvenVCO via the Doepfer mixer then onto the SVCA & Moon-Phase. At the moment I'm using the Doepfer mixers to stereo-sum my percussion and the Happy Nerding & Befaco mixers are basically my Output to external mixer.
@Ronin1973 & @Farkas - Filters in the top row, I think this will be done pretty soon, I'm already fighting through wires to adjust them where they are.
@lugia - I'm glad someone said VCOs, this does feel like a glaring hole, I was thinking of sticking fairly traditional and the Honeyeater from ST Modular looks interesting with its wave mixer section which vaguely reminds me of my old Roland MC202.
Yep the Percussion row can be pushed off to another case.
In what way to you mean Complex Oscillator? There are lots to choose from under that headline, something like a Plaits would encourage me to get rid of the 2hp Pluck & Bell and make for more finger room around jacks and pots.
I'd quite like to keep the EvenVCO, as it was a DIY build and for the moment I still feel attached to it.
My main focus in Eurorack is to have fun and learn, if what comes out sounds good thats a bonus.
Cheers

These are all the modules I have, 3 of which are freshly ordered DIY kits; Drive, Prok BD & Moon-Phase.
Could I organise my modules better?
Is there anything to excess, maybe something you'd ditch?
Missing something (other than Talent) Another VCA (a different Stereo VCA might be on the cards as the ST Modular seems to be over-driven from the word Go and distorts a simple sine wave)?
Plans are to split off the percussion row into a separate case, probably with one of the uZeus for power. Then I'll finish the KonstantLab Power upgrade for the main case and sell the spare uZeus.
Gone are the days when I thought 2 rows for 84hp would be all I'd ever want! Things are getting interesting now with a 'potential' 5 rows of 84hp
Cheers :)

Thanks... I'm nowhere near where I want to be yet. I'm sort of talking about getting a micro Ornament & Crime so I can set Chords to play through the Chainsaw properly, either that or Maybe a Robaux 3PT as I just found that will let you output 3 finger chords from one input.

Thanks @GarfieldModular Yeah I think I got a bit crazy on the Rebach filter started clipping the recording or something, it didn't sound quite that bad while I was playing it.
I get 3 parts out of the Acidrain Chainsaw via the ST Modular SVCA, the main Stereo outs fom the SVCA go to Mimeophon and then onto Monsoon Clouds, then I take the extra outs from the SVCA and split them to the Patching Panda Punch before hitting either the Omsonic FLF or the Rebach VCF-AB, Triggers for these going to the Punch come from the Robaux LL8.
Marbles controls the whole show, Mimeophon is clocked from Pams, Mimeophon clock the Pitches side of Marbles.
I feel what I need to do is disconnect all my percussion or make a point of not using it, it was sort of my fear when starting to buy percussion modules that everything I do would have beats in it, my percussion row will eventually become separate so i can completely avoid it.

I was just going to suggest the 2HP RND, cos it just sits there taking up so little space but you can get Random gates out of it so can be used as an On/Off switch on things like the Freeze button on Clouds etc. Plus Smooth and Quantasized (stepped) random outputs you can use to Modulate your Modulators etc.
But @eexee's suggestion of the 4MS sounds like loads of fun.
BTW, if you happen to own a Disting it has a Chaos mode.

I was too was aiming to get Tiptop's Forbidden Planet filter but then I spotted the Omsonic limited run of their (FLF) Funky Ladder Filter which is like the Steiner Parker filter but with extra control, its a very nice sounding filter and very usable. You can mult your signal and feed all inputs then tweak the levels for each HP/BP/LP, you could do this with a simple attenuator and the Forbidden Planet filter too.
https://omsonic.co.uk/product/omsonic-funky-ladder-filter-le-8hp-edition-fire-sale/
The other thing which I think should be a personal toolbox item is the Rebach VCF-AB, its very affordable and if you like the occasional dirty 303-style acid line then this ticks the box cos it will squeal like a distorted 303 because of its internal feedback path.
https://rebach.eu/catch-series/
I'm very tempted by a Stereo Ripples filter and a Patching Panda Moonphase.
Kinda tempted by the ADDAC604 as its double the same filter that they made for their ADDAC105 4-Voice Cluster, which I found more useful than the 4-voice cluster with the ability to feed it external signals, it was simple and workhorse-like, kind of set-and-forget or just throw a little modulation at it for a background element. So with the ADDAC604 being able to be used as a Dual Mono or Stereo filter its quite a good price to keep the Stereo path from other modules, it won't be too crazy but it will be very usable.

I nearly posted something the other week about being confused about Modular mixers, there really isn't one that is suitable to fit all tastes.
Things like:
Lacks enough standard Stereo channels.
The add-on mixers lack Mutes and Pan control.
Takes up too much HP.
Its massively cheaper on Ebay, buy a Mackie, Behringer or Yamaha outboard mixer second hand or even new they can be a good price.
I've pretty much decided for the playing about I do with modular I'm better with small sub-mixers.
There is almost an argument for buying a few Befaco Out v3's as leveled Outs to a desktop Mixer.
I emailed a suggestion to Befaco a bit back, make an STMIX that has Stereo Mutes and Pan control attached, thats what I need/want, and it would make the STMIX a better more functional part when coupled with the Hexmix, and in turn the Hexmix more appealing with its mono panned and EQ'd channels with Stereo effects returns.
My Current mixers are; Befaco STMIX, 2x Doepfer A-138s (for percussion mixing), and a Happy Nerding 4xMix.
There are so many modules that are Stereo, I think I have 6 stereo-capable modules in my rack now and add the outputs of the 2x A-138s's and thats 8x Stereo outs I need before thinking about Mono.
I'll leave this here, in its vaguely confused state :)

@swaminstar I use the Sphincter VCA most days.
@Ronin1973 I'm doing exactly this.
@Lugia Sounds pretty interesting that. So you can use a VCA prior to the filter as an accent (etc) control with the post-Filter VCA shaping the sound.

Thanks :) This was certainly a fun patch.... fairly sure the Moon Phase filter from Patching Panda might be my next DIY build to compliment the Chainsaw & ST Modular SVCA (though the latter is a weird VCA, quirky is probably the best description).

Just a mellow filtered thing....
There might be a couple of mins of Silence at the start of this as the audio capture didn't start in OBS.
Second patch with Acidrain Chainsaw, heading through HNVCF and Omsonic FLF on separate channels going into Monsoon Clouds and I've got the Rebach VCF-AB being fed some noise and self resonating with the Befaco Burst plucking and envelope ratchet triggers.
I literally just found the most simple fun too, Noise out of the Disting, into a VCA then into a Channel of the ADDAC103 and ride the 103 as a filter with the VCA for all manner of lovely blippy sweepy grunge from a simple noise source :) then thru the Pico DSP.

I should probably say that each of the filters is on a different Stereo channel, that may or not be obvious with the Mimeophon set on Skew.
@GarfieldModular - Thanks, I need to look at working on something more slow in progression.
@Farkas - Punch is great, great for plucky blips and filter ascents, and sooo good for dirty acid lines with the Rebach VCF-AB.
@Lugia - The worlds longest URL courtesy of Reverb :) I'll have to have a listen to some Jarre see what you mean, I'll admit I'm not a massive fan of the Phaser sound but if it works in Oxygene I'll check it out. Cheers
