Slim

I had a problem with this seller, @sugarfreedaddy, quite some time ago.
This was reported here.
The situation was: I purchased a module, he did not send it. He was "unable" to send it, he was also "unable" to refund me.

I think that the situation was quite similar to what is being experienced here (with several purchasing the same module)

I talked to him via messenger. I had to insist a lot, during weeks, months. He was never "able" to refund me, but after weeks he ended sending me other modules for similar value.

I don't know if you guys will find a way to get your money back. I'm just writing this here to encourage you all not to give up.

Good luck to you all!

Slim

it really depends on what you want to achieve.
for simple switch duties the simple doepfer dual vc switch is just good.

for more complex ideas, the WMD SSM is ace. Fun and immediate.

I also have a Qu-Bit Synapse, and I really use it for many things. This is a very powerful module. The LED are very nicely displaying the module behavior. This has been my favorite switch.

Slim

You are maybe looking for a switch.
Some switch can change routings via CV or gate signals. Doepfer has some. Many other brands also do.
Some can be activated manually. Tesseract 8x8 buffered matrix comes to my mind, there are plently other options.

Slim

Hi Alex, I send you a pm.

Happy patching everyone!

Slim

The Synthesis Technology E-352 and the IME Piston Honda are very interesting WT oscillators :)

Slim

I would add attenuators, and vcas! cheap purchases and add a lot of playability. :)

Slim

and here we are, back at it, and this one sounds nice ;)

Slim

@sweevo do you get things sorted ?

only a few days in = happens.
someone not being responsive for a few
days is all fine.

please let us know and best of luck

Slim

this module was indeed redesigned, a new version is available, in 4hp :)

Slim

Slim

, not sure if I know another module that can handle 32 channels of CV automation (that's the way I'd use it, I guess)...
-- toodee

not willing to compare the two sequencers,
i use both and find both very useful. but just in case that's useful: Nerseq handles many cv tracks. i used 2 cv expanders, that's 32 cv outs in addition to the 12 cv outs of nerdseq.

happy patching everyone :)

Slim

A Benjolin is a fun and weird thingy :)

Also the Xaoc Drezno and friends are very interesting units!

Slim

And here we go for a new session. This one again starts quite gently, but goes very badly into noise territory!

Slim

there are 32 slots to connect the modules to the power delivered by the go case. hipes this helps!

Slim

I'm unsure if I understood your question.
But if your question is about the PSU, it seems fine for a B Go.

Slim

i think that a mixer with the features that you are describing in 10hp simply does not exist.

Cosmotronic has some feature packed mixeres in reasonable hp

i'm really not willing to induce any gas. but i would not try to fit more voices and add a mixer in your case. you certainly don't want to remove utilities to add voices.
maybe it's time to think of expanding the hps ?
or maybe get a 1010 bluebox desktop ?

Slim

Testing nonsense sequencing tricks and stacking too many voices: it was a fun session!

and the last sounds pretty oragnic 😀

Slim

This one starts slowly and goes wild :)

Slim

Well I guess that LFO with knobs are much more performative, but this is a matter of taste.
I have a Doepfer A-145-4 in each rack.

Also, for you system, considering a simple VCO to be used for audio rate modulation duties would open many possibilities. I suggest very simple modules such as a Doepfer A-111-3 or an Intellijel Dixie 2+

Slim

i think that you planned too many voices and effects, and thatbyou are seriously missing utilities.

you want to add vcas.
and adding other utilities will make your rack performative. i would add a quad lfo (doepfer ?), a clock divider, many vcas, a good filter (maybe two depending on the amount of voices that you keep in) and envelopes. maybe a math or rampage.

i wouod advise that you do not purchase all voices, to build slow and learn the process first.

Slim

And we just posted a new session!

As usual, this is recorded straight from the modular into the computer, with no editing.

This one is a beautiful session, pretty easy listening, with many soundscapes.

Slim

We uploaded another session on our soundcloud.

This is about an hour long. This one has some wild and epic vibe.

And yeah, I suck at keys, but it was real fun

https://on.soundcloud.com/fsxDmgrxu5Y8J65Y9

Slim

I described everyhting in the bad traders thread and I would prefer not discussing this any further publicly.

Slim

This sounds very nice :)

out of curiosity: what are your main sequencing modules and techniques for the melodic parts ? do you program ? or do you record sequences ?
I'm curious because I look for inspirations to sequence polyphony in modular environment.

Slim

We uploaded a new session :

_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing&si=0a8cf7a7b2f6457387e3969ec05c89d0

This one is a monolithic journey through the darker side of Ransac.

Our music often doesn't fit in short clips, so I simply left it as a one hour block.
Overall smooth, it will fit for a relaxing moment (provided you enjoy noisy soundscapes though!).

Slim

Just uploaded another session. This one is very cinematic.

Slim

After several years recording modular music, we finally decided to upload some music online.

https://on.soundcloud.com/Yvz3Ns2PH8DVfwhH8

This is a modular duo, improvised music, straight into the recorder with no editing.

Our music is probably a bit raw, sometimes in noise territory, and clearly into sound design too.
It is not for everyone but I guess that some of you around will enjoy some of it.

Happy patching everyone!

Slim

An additional note about my previous posts, regarding user @sugarfreedaddy

I want to state here that my problem with him is now solved.
He was unable to send me the module that I purchased, and he was unable to refund me.
I offered that he sends me other modules for a similar value. He did, which means that, I don't really understand how or why, he was in a problematic situation, but in the end he did not scam me.

Happy modular everyone :)

Slim

I guess that your cheapest option is a behringer cp1a in 4 hp.

Slim

A quick update:

6 weeks after, I still received no module from @sugarfreedaddy

he replies to messenger messages.
he said that he will refund me "asap" but that he currently does not have the money. I don't believe him whatever he says :D

He said that he is not home and can't ship (but he keeps on posting new ads here and on ebay for you people to buy :D )

For several reasons:

6 weeks no module received
he refuses to communicate his name or adress
he ships modules from Poland but his ads claim that he is in Germany
when he ships, he does not communicate his own name and no phone on the parcel... he ships without name...

For all those reasons I believe that he is a real scam and as such, I really want to state it clearly, hoping to help modulargrid people: this guy is here to scam.

No drama please.

Happy patching everyone :D

Slim

This person is indeed selling on several platform and scamming people.

He is selling and refuses to provide name or adress, even to buyers.
He ships parcels with no name, no phone.
He ships from Poland but advertises being in Germany.

In my case, I paid with Paypal to family, he kept the money and never sent the module, this was more than 6 weeks ago.
This has been reported in the bad trader thread too.

Slim

@GunnarWaage, are you referring to my post ?

Slim

I got contacted by sugarfreedaddy and he said that he will refund (but I did not get a refund yet).
I will update when I'll have something new to share.

Slim

i purchased a module from @sugarfreedaddy about a month ago.

several days after payment he sent a message, telling me he had an accident and will ship the module with some delay.
Several weeks later no news.

i asked for a refund. no reply in several weeks.

he still has several ads online. I advise everyone to stay away for now...

I'll edit this post if something changes.

Slim

I would suggest the 4ms Tapographix delay, or even the Dual Looping delay (and use the feedback send to alter the original signals ?)

Slim

that would be a fun rack for sure :)

for a groovebox feel, keeping the bitbox ?

(Nerdseq can also play audio samples on 2 tracks)

Slim

What is trhe idea of your rack ? Are you planning to live sample and resample in the Bitbox ?

Otherwise, I would actually use Nerdseq for most modulation duties, remove some modulation.
I would also probably remove the tuesday. You have a lot of sequencing power in there, and not many voices.
Also there's no filter.
What about adding a small footprint osc (Noise Engineering ?) and a filter (Joranalogue Filter 8 is very versatile) ?

On the 1U, an interesting choice is a ornament and crime, or some LPG.Maybe a 1U oscillator, that you could use for modulation ?

Slim

I think that you should spend more time planning and thinking, please don't buy stuffs yet , you would be disappointed. you have one voice and 3 expensive filters, that' like setting money on fire.
hexmix is also no right for such a small system.
what about you buy a cheap osc, a cheap filter, a cheap vca, as many utilities as possible and you learn from there ?
shapeshifter is nice but is definitely a complex module. chose one (or better two) cheap osc ?
remove two filters.
what's the plan for sequencing ?

do you know synthesis ? did you consider a semi modular ?
something like a beastep and a behringer crave, k2, or neutron ? that would help you building some basics.
a arturia minibrute 2s would also be a smart starting setup me thinks...

ask for more advices, read, test stuffs, and try not to spend too much money for now!

Slim

2U sounds weird. 6 U maybe ?

Slim

sometimes it does.
I don´t really know whhen this applies, but in some cases the buyer needs to validate the transaction when reveiving the item before the sellers gets the money.

Slim

I agree that those two are nice modulation sources.
I was more referring to audio rate modulation, to achieve new timber. I love modulating Generate 3, it cn do so many interesting sounds.
Maybe Orbit 3 can do such duty, no idea - I don't have it (it's probably very wild at it ?)

I have no idea if the Medusa can do audiorate - and this is something that I will test asap :)

The medusa and orbit 3 were supposed to cover that? Agreed that modulation is important.

-- YappyMeatRobot

Slim

so both cases ate part the same
instrment and are played
together ?

this looks like a fun monster.

i would suggest adding an oscillator to be used as modulator, something like an intellijel dixie 2+ (or a Kermit if money doesn't matter).

a wavefolder would also be a fun tool. (joranalogue ?)

have fun!

Slim

I’m very curious if users can share successful experiences with delaying cv signals with « audio delay modules ».

I suspect that looking for one module to do comb filtering and long and accurate delays will be challenging ?

Synthesis technology E102 is a very fun module.
Joranalogue step 8 implements accurate track and hold (and is a super fun module too)
For comb and such, Joranalogue Delay 1 is impressive.

Slim

Always a friendly contact and happy deals with @Jihel
Enjoy the module :)

Slim
Thread: Drum Rack

Regarding Rhythms generation,
Shakmat is really great at this. Knight Gallop and Four Bricks are amazingly powerful.
I agree with the above: looking for clock dividers/logic is a very fun approach to patterns generation. 4ms clock dividers are feature packed. Shakmat time wizard combines dividers and logic.
I agree too that Befaco Percall is great.
Also look at sequential switches.

For sounds this really depends on the sounds that you want to achieve. Endorphin has nice multi voice modules. But there are many options to listen to.
A square wave osc , a noise source and a good filter can do a lot :)

Slim

Thanks for an easy deal @ferranadsr

Enjoy the module and happy music 🙂

Slim

Always happy to deal with @Jihel :)

Enjoy the module :)

Slim

I too "purchased" a module to @grooveserfer.

Communication went fast until payment.

more than 4 weeks later, no news, I contacted him several times and did not hear back.

I still believe the module will actually arrive.

Slim

I second the 4ms DLD suggestion. This is a very interesting effect module. Each side has a feedback loop and adding any sound modifier in the loops opens many possibilities. It can do a lot, from gentle and clean sound design to pure madness.
