BEEQ

Building a (third) techno live setup in a (small) retro samsonite case!

The star of the show is the MOOG Labyrinth.
It's two random / "corruptable" sequencers control the Labyrinth itself but also the Doepfer A-111-6 Synth Voice.

The two modules in between let me chose between seq1 en seq2 for the A-111-6

Drums: Behringer RS-9 and Endorphine's Queen of Pentacles.

The objective of this setup: create random techno with two synths and drums.

Building a minimal techno live setup in a retro samsonite case!

BEEQ

This is my small setup, build into a retro suitcase.

It contains 4 synth voices and 6 drums. Within 2x84 HP!!

Drums:
Kick: Shakmat - Battering ram - providing a inverted enveloppe to the Joranalogue Mix3
Hat: 2HP - Hat - OH and CH
Snare and percussion: Modbap Trinity
All drums into Frap Tools 321 into Modbap Hue voor Filter, Drive and Lofi FX's

Synth voices:
Polysynth: Knobula - Pianophonic - midi
Mono Synth 1: Klavis Twin Waves MKII + Granity Filter
Mono Synth 2: Modbap Osiris + Meridian Filter
Mono Synth 3: Doepfer A-111-6
All mod and env by: Klavis Quadigy and Joranalogue Contour 1

Out of modular grid picture:
Sequencer: OXI One, using 1 multi sequencer for 5 drum channels, 1 poly sequencer for midi / chord, 1 mono sequencers for lead, 2 matriacal sequencers for basses.
Mixer and FX : Teenage engineering TX-6 (12 channels mono mixer or 6 channle stereo) with 2 Bubblesound reducers to transform eurorack into line-level.

BEEQ

Patched up today.
Polyend Present into 2x WMD Sequential Switch works super! Mutes, Build-ups, Effect chains, CV parameters...

Next stage: recording and filming.

Hi Lugia

Thnx very much for the feedback. I'll look into logic for sure. Thnx for the tip. Looking at the ARC Logic module video now. I'm a little intimidated bij logic to be honest. But you are right, with much sequencing it becomes handy!
I'll move the uZeus away from sound modules!! Or better: move the gallops to the right ;-)

After my x-mas spending i'll check out the doepfer filter! But for now: patching up and play!

BEEQ

Thnx for the advice. I'll keep a watch on that.

Brenso, Entity and Ripples have a internal VCA with VC control.
I use the Frap Tools 321 for balance in te mix for BIA and Chimera (also with internal VCA)

On top of that the 2HP double VCA...

Any advice on a good Quad VCA?

BEEQ

Trying to build a "smart system" with 50/50 preset/hands-on control:

  • Nerdseq + expanders (with upcoming CV expander) controling soundsources:

  • Assimil8or (Drums)

  • Chimera (Percussion)
  • BIA (Bass)
  • Scanned (Drones)
  • A-111-4 (Melody, arps)

Polyend Preset controling:
- 3x CV channels Assimil8or: with one CV channel controlling 8 banks of 8 drum samples = 64 drum samples.
- 1x WMD sequential Switch matrix Controlling: BIA, A-111-4/1-3, A-111-4/4 & Scanned in
Sending in matrix to: Clean channel, Erbe Verb, Chronoblob, Warps
- 2x Filters Cut-off freq
- 1x Chimera Decay
- 1x Warps algorithm

Mixing 16 channels in 4x Intellijel Quadratts:
- Stereo left > into panned left mixer (Left out: A8, Erbe Verb, Chronoblob, out-Warps)
- Stereo right > into pannend right mixer (Right out: A8, Erbe Verb, Chronoblob, aux-Warps)
- 2x mono

End mix with VCA sidechaining kickdrum & 2HP Verb.

Hands on control:
- Varigate 4+
- Voltage Block
- Batumi LFO's
- 4 Robots & Streams Enveloppes
- Event boss
- Switched Mult
- And all the knobs...

I swapped the Rene for the Nerdseq sequencer... and heaven on earth!
Very playable... and much, much more possibilities for musicality.

No menu diving, everything 1 layer deep.
