We have a nice chart on offers in the marketplace that shows the price development of the module and the average price asked for the module. It's not the price the module is sold for so it is not super precise but it gives sellers and buyers an idea. The chart only shows up if data is available of course.
If users are idle for too long, they will be kicked out of the system. This is especially annoying if they were in the process of writing long texts in the forum, because they might lose all their well thought out thoughts.
Now text in the forum forms will be continuously buffered to the local storage of your browser.
This should survive page reloads as well as a logout, meaning if you are kicked out just log in, hit Reply again and your texts hopefully will still be there.
I wrote a really long reply, but when I was to submit I had been kicked off. UGH
Sorry for that! I have now uploaded a patch that will continuously buffer the text to the local storage of your browser.
This should survive page reloads as well as a logout, meaning if you are kicked out just log in, hit Reply again and your long texts hopefully will still be there.
I have deleted one false offer in question because it is misleading in deed.
I don't think the users are "clowns" though. Maybe want to buy could be a new feature.
Be sure to have something like a "universal" or "hybrid" choice in the list then, and not only IJ/PL!
That is a 1U module that fits in both IJ/PL standards or is this a new third standard?
It would also be nice if there was a way to superimpose 1U (IJ) modules over this series of adapters :
I see that would be useful but that is complicated because of the way the drag/drop collision routine works.
There may of course be other adapters that could use this kind of feature, as long as there's also a "rotate module" option! :)
We have rotate module for 180°. People request that for 90° but that is also complicated because the way the optimize rack space routine works. At this point it looks like everything is complicated :-(
Users planning big racks sometimes lose track of which modules they have already assigned.
Modules assigned to the current rack now are marked in the My Modules section.
This might be extended to multiple racks in the future.
Module Rack Track is a Unicorn feature.
Added new section Panel Versions to the module detail pages. If there are different panel versions of a module available they will show up here and on click can be directly added to the current rack.
It's not about the forum, we don't have different forums for different formats. It's about the module catalogue and the planner.
We’re not discussing changes to MG’s organizational menus, correct?
We are. It was requested to rename the Serge modular section (we call universe). If I understand that right the Serge guy is not happy to have other 4U modules listed under Serge format and vice versa 4U manufacturers don't want to be listed under Serge.
E.g. the system selector top left navigation will have removed the entry Serge and exchanged with 4U. Buchla will still have it's own entry because of the different width and they way the MG planner works.
Posted it on Muffs too because there is a bit more attention. Well, people find it more important to request other features.
For technical reason it would be hard to merge Buchla to 4U.
You think it would be o.k. to have two universes Buchla AND 4U?
I have a request to rename the Serge universe to 4U because there are some other manufacturers that also build modules in that format.
I wonder if that will be more confusing because Buchla is also 4U(?) but with different width/voltages.
What's the best way to deal with that?
I need some opinions here: is the current universe naming o.k. or should it be changed?
And what's with the other formats (Eurorack, Buchla, Frac, Modcan A, MOTM, MU, Serge)?
In your user preferences you find a drop down menu Country Selection.
Select a country within the EU there.
Not sure if that search shortlist will come but we have the Build Type option for DIY which I guess is an intersection for many open source projects.
This is at least more comfortable than scrolling through n pages in the vendor dropdown.
Maybe you already know, just a quick tip to make that faster: if the manufacturer dropbox is in focus or opened you can type the first letters of the name of the manufacturer to select him. Works on all select boxes.
You all got it right, the price sort function was broken since the beginning of MG times.
The problem is, that modules can have USD and EUR prices, just USD, just EUR or neither. These prices are stored in different table columns. On the website it was trivial to calculate the missing currency from the currency that was there but I did not get the sorting right on SQL level, e.g. calculate all the missing prices within the sort option.
I have now found a way that should improve the situation with one caveat: modules without a price do not show up when sorting by price. If I would include them, all modules without a price (price == null) would be at the beginning of the search result which might be confusing? Do you think that makes sense or should they be appended to the end of the search result?
All I want is to filter for functions (or maybe other things) and then get a list with modules starting at the lowest price.
@gumbo23
1. open the two racks in two different browser windows.
2. be sure Keyboard Shortcuts are enabled
3. in the first window hover over a module and press c
4. in the second window hover over the rack (important) and press v
If you typed something into the search form every post in the post view was hidden that did not contain the search string. That was confusing. Now the search term is just highlighted.
Notification email
The link in the new post notification email now redirects to the last post.
Bandcamp embeds should work now. You have to go to Bandcamps Share/Embed options, then select a "style" and then copy the code that is listed with the option wordpress.com. Paste that in the ModGrid forum post and it should render the album.
Feature request: add the ability to archive racks for when you're tired of looking at them but don't want to delete them!
-- troux
That seems to be a bit special interest for me but when @GarfieldModular and @Lugia support that too I wonder what the usecase is? If it is about the limit of possible racks it might be better and easier to increase that instead?
a better idea might be some sort of DLable format that can be read (but obviously NOT manipulated) offline by users.
-- Lugia
A ModularGrid rack exchange format with a signed certificate. That sounds even more nerdy!
Second feature request for the day: Bandcamp embeds!
-- troux
~~We have that now as an experimental feature until the bots figure out how to embed spam and porn iframes or the pages are all broken due to incorrect/non closing tags. Use the HTML iframe code in Bandcamps share options.~~
Edit: I have revoked the Bandcamp embed feature for now, it lead to some problems I did not think of. It might come back soon.
As far as I could read, this has surprisingly never been requested before but would be a big scroll/click saver for forum users: I don't see a way to jump to the last post of a thread on the forum, would it be possible to transform the [time] section of the "Today, [time] by [user] in [Forum Index]" message into a link leading to the last message, similar to what we can see on other forums ?
EDIT: just testing the edit function - and I remember I may have written a heart to troux, so < and 3 stuck together, could that be it ?
-- toodee
Yes, that is the problem. MG uses the PHP strip_tag function to filter iframes and the like which sadly is so heartless to also filter the less than expression because it looks suspicious like a broken html tag. Don't stick < together with anything :)
I recommend a platform [spam.me], their writers wrote a great essay for me. If you hesitate, check out these [spam.me] reviews , they will only confirm my words.

I've just experienced a weird bug: my last post in the forum saw only 2 lines posted despite the fact that what I wrote was 6 or 7 lines. Trying to edit the message to add the lines back seems to get ignored and my message is trimmed at the exact same spot after the edit.
-- toodee
The Previous/Next Page Buttons top right on the module detail page now work more in an expected way:
If you come from the Module Finder page those buttons now follow the search results.
Before that they always advanced by the upload date of a module which mostly was pretty much useless.
On trying to reply on posts regarding modules, I can preview my reply, but pressing 'submit' does nothing on W10 both Firefox and Edge.
-- tboy
Thanks for reporting, this should be fixed.
After I moved the module out of the rack into the scratch area, I was typing the name of another module into the entry field when I got a generic error message about something going wrong.
-- jreineke
Sorry for the trouble, there is currently a workaround: just disable the keyboard shortcuts. There is a slider above the rack to do that. One day there will be a real fix ...
Behringer has no manufacturer account on MG and it does not feel right to set a manufacturer lock on behalf of their name.
That is currently the only way to lock the entry. If the edits do not stop very soon we will implement a technical solution.
ModularGrid is a database, like a directory of modules, we just show what is there. Discussions about the module here in the forum are o.k. but please stop replacing the image of the module with other unrelated silly images. Especially don't change the power specs with fantasy values. That is not helpful and will lead to numerous copies of this module which are a pain to track and merge.
You cannot merge racks. You can copy modules from one rack to the other with the c and v shortcuts, that works with two different browser windows so you open the two racks in two windows and copy paste from one window to the other.
The other workaround is to use your My Modules collection to quickly put your modules in a rack.
On the "Command Centre" (sorry..."center") display,
I guess you mean the Kommandozentrale
could we please have the any incomplete rows left-justified rather than fully justified? As a graphic designer, I start to cry when I see three racks spread apart on the final row, after seeing evenly spaced racks above
I know what you mean. The graphic designer and the web developer had heated discussions above that topic. That was not very productive especially since they are the same person. (web developer always wins)
Whilst I'm at it, could the rows also be padded out so that the tops of all the cases align regardless of the length of the case title - e.g. make it like a spreadsheet table where you have a row of case titles above a row of cases.

Understand. Will look into it and give it another shot ...
I am all in for a revised list but it is a delicate matter. It is easy to add new tags, but very hard to delete them.
We have already a lot tags currently, while some are very special others are too loose.
That could be improved.
We also have descriptions (filter) and quantifiers (dual) mixed, but I think that is ok.
As Lugia says the problem is to go through all the modules. While I will not change data that is locked by manufacturers I am fine to remove the locks when manufacturers are unresponsive or even out of business.
I think for every new function tag added an old one should be refined/renamed/merged/deleted so we don't end with a frightening list of technical terms.
E.G. combine Expression and Controller, find a better name for Clock Modulator etc.
The function list must stay "noob" friendly, it was intended to give beginners a quick overview what's available. That won't work with a hundred entries.
To disable Native Apple UI in Safari you can set the "-webkit-appearance" style to none;
-- defragmenteur
Yes, I know but the dropdown menu would not look like a dropdown anymore and you have to fake in that down triangle icon and that triangle icon will not register clicks so the dropbox would not open and than you can add javascript to prevent that, etc.
Not worth it imho just to get flatter dropdowns on Safari which might come "for free" with a next Apple update.
Anyway: "ModularGrid? Isn't that the tasteful site with the beautiful webdesign?" said no one ever ;)
That is Apples idea how a default drop down should look. Every attempt to restyle those elements is a bit hacky and has other disadvantages. The new "dropboxes" on iOS have the dropbox appearance disabled so they look flat. But from UI perspective they are no dropboxes anymore which can be problematic. I hope that Apple will just tone them done a bit in the future.
Strangely, when I posted my earlier message I couldn't see any posts in this thread besides the first post and one reply.
-- Sarksus
That's because the search function is too advanced for this world. If you enter something in the search box all posts are hidden that do not contain the search query. I will fix that one day..
For the cat matter: it's even worse now with the dark theme. Now there is a negative cat which in theory should neutralize the regular cat if they ever meet what god forbid hopefully will never happen.
One new fix for an annoying bug:
We use reCaptcha to fight forum spam.
If you post in the forum and write for more than 2 min the reCaptcha token expired and you had to click submit a second time.
That should now be fixed, because the recaptcha token is now generated on submit and not on page load as before.
(And if this post is saved it's also a test that it works).
