I'll say "Clouds" from Mutable Instruments. Incredible module for sound design stuff, u have a lot of fuctions in this super cool module, u can also "freeze" the sound, and than u can play with it (changing pitch, adding reverb/delay, cut the greeze sample into small pieces and so on).
Yeah. I think that you really need a Clouds
Hi, I am currently building my first modular setup. I am looking to effectively transform samples (music or sound design) from my DAW and transform it with my modular to either compose structures (macro composition) or to shape small sound objects. I am planning a 3 row system. Roughly, the 1st row would be audio inputs/midi and granular modules. 2nd would be a basic synth with functions (VCO, VCF, VCA, maths, ADSR). 3rd row would be the mixer and some playable modules (rene). What are some of the best modules for my purpose? Is that a good approach? This is a long term project so budget is not an issue; I will slowly be buying piece by piece.
Input and tips will be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time. Cheers.
Thanks, but that is the manual for the MK1, this panel uses the MK2 Turing Machine and Pulses expanders which may have different power requirements. The Backpack PCB does not exist for the MK2. Also that number doesn't make a distinction between positive and negative rails. I'd be glad to update the power requirements but a canonical source is needed.
All smooth, seamless transactions. Friendly, patient and helpful communication, fast shipping, reliable folks.
I am pleased to recommend each and everyone of them!
Actually the only really unpleasant experience I've had here on modulargrid was with @kires, who sold me a broken optodist. Since he refused to take it back, I got it repaired by a local technician who fixed several cold solder joints and attested very poor soldering overall (this guy knows his job, he's been working for the likes of Kraftwerk). I submitted the bill to @kires asking if he would accept to at least participate in the costs. In response he treated me a fraudster trying to wangle rebates out of him.
Not recommended!
I'm pretty new to Eurorack and synthesizers in general. But I'v been listening to Brian Eno, Alva Noto, Bohren, Monolake and Murcof for years.
Two month ago, I came to the realisation, that it is possible to make this kind of music myself. Maybe even in a generative way...
So I bought the smallest possible Eurorack setup and an Arturia Beatstep Pro. (Which is fantastic. 8 sequencable trigger Outs, two independent sequencer for CV, Velocity and Gates. And of course probability control.)
Now I'm planning on expanding the System. (Obviously. I've been warned, but... I can't control myself.)
(Also... I'm lusting after a pair of Doepfer A-110-4 Thru Zero Quadrature VCOs, one or two Sloths, an Intellijel Metropolis, an sequential switch, some logic modules and an Pucktronix Oracle, but space is limited. I will make the case maybe a bit wider, so I can include these modules as well.)
What are your thoughts? Am I of balance? What can I omit or replace? Are there more 'Swiss-Army-Knife' modules like the Disting, Peaks and Maths?
Hey There.
I have an Analog four that I want to build a compact "drone/Noise" modular around.
I am curently looking at the snazzy fx drone bank and Make noise DPO.
I dont have any moduls now, so I need to start at the right place.
I am looking for any input on what you peolpe would do?
Ore if anyone have done something cool.
All the best joko..
I just started in the modular world, and need some advice/your opinions.
I have a Doepfer A-100Mc miniature case with de modular dock by Vermona to expand the possibilities with my Mono Lancet. I have 10 HP left in my case and want to buy a module to complete the set(maybe even more as long as it fits). I looked at some LFO's and other modulation sources. But my question is:
Which module would you buy?
I'm extremely happy with buying a PEG from @Kujo. You can't ship a module faster than this man. Highly recommended!
He was also really helpful and empathic after I ran into panic mode when things didn't work as they should have at first (which was simply may fault and a simple power issue in my case). Thanks again, man.

Thanks Mike for the kind words, I'm happy things turned out fine in the end and that we're both happy with our transactions. It is to be noted as well that Mike was an honest buyer directly calculating the correct shipping amount + paypal fees (before I had the chance to mention it) and including them in the transaction which was very swiftly done. Cheers
Sounds promising! How about some piezos on the piano to get some signals besides audio? Like vibrations from the body and stuff like that... maybe an envelope follower...
Piezo is a nice idea! Envelope follower could work, too - I'll check that out. Thanks!
you can buy an audio interface for the iphone or (what i did) solder yourself a "breakout"-cable with a TRRS jack. Guess you can buy such a cable somewhere...
Just found an iPhone compatible audio interface in my closet. This will work I hope... ;-)

Just ordered the ADDAC301 Floor Control to control some things with my feel while playing the piano with my hands. The other way around might also possible, although I lack a little expression when playing the piano with my feet... :-)
Hi. I see two basic strategies: 1. processing of piano sound, 2. deriving cv from your playing the piano to control modules.
The Clouds sure is a great choice for both. One feature I would definitely want in there is a pitch to voltage converter. Plus more more ways to get cv out your piano. Maybe from the pedal?
Curious what you come up with in the way of processed piano!
I am mainly a pianist with a strong addiction to experimental music.
In my head there is this strange idea of playing a piano concert, where I modulate the original sound of the piano into some electronic devices that will respond and interact with my playing. Further I wanted the option to add some drone sounds or sequenced patterns, and finally some drums, can be triggered with my piano playing or a predefined beats.
So this is the basic setup I almost finished, so I am just a day or so before testing this beast.
The piano sound will go into the Ears and then splitted clean into the mixer and into the Clouds. The Mother will provide the clock for the trigger module that can play the drum sounds, trigger the Peaks or the Clouds. The Mother Sequencer and VCO can provide a basic drone sound or basslines. Or it can be used to control the Clouds.
There are the basic scenarios I tried to cover.
I am open for comments. What can I do better? Am I missing something? Are there options I am currently not thinking about? Is the answer always 42?
Damn. How many SSM2044's do you need? 2? I DO have 1 spare in an SSM2044 DIY board that was sent to me as a gift back in the later 90's. I never HAVE attached it to a panel.
Back in the later 90's I had purchased 25, as I was building modulars for other customers up til '98. I lost a LOT of parts from a former girlfriend who through a lot of my stuff out when we split up in 2006. I DO have the 1 spare though that I could fire off.
But you need 2 don't you?
...my budget is really really bad...i may take the challenge and build my own case...

Right you are. With more time on your hands than money you may find this inspiring: cardboard DIY case. That's what I did. I went for 2 rows though. It's way more more durable than you might think. In fact mine doesn't show any wear after 15 months and five times on the road. It's an easy build done in one afternoon and, of course, it doesn't get any cheaper.
Thanks for the response wiggler55550. i can't wait to get into the eurorack world. love the sci-fi sound it can make. Already i have the System 1m & the Make Noise 0-coast. if i can just get that image above i will be greatly happy..what gear are you using btw
you're welcome, but maybe you can actually help me out here. the reason i knew about that dual ssm is that i am up to build the neutron.
i already got the pcb and some of the components but i am having trouble finding the ssm chips from a trustfull source.
i asked doepfer and Dieter answered me, but unfortunately they have to keep their stash for servicing/repairs...
where did you get your chips?
cheers,
robert
