Hi ModLifeCrisis,

Oh wow! This is beautifully done, I love this track. I am going to listen this again so much to discover and to like here :-)

Hmm, it hangs now :-( I hope this is only temporarily.

Anyway, thank you very much for this great track and nice video as well! Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Baltergeist,

You got some nice percussion sounds there, I love that. Can't wait for your tracks with some "touch of sax" to it :-)

This is interesting and curious material if I may describe it like that, really interesting for the listener! Thanks a lot for sharing this and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Igor,

That's a lovely and peaceful track. So nice and relaxing, hmmm... I want more :-) I wish every spring would be like this!

Great work, I don't mind more from you in similar way. Thank you very much for sharing and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Zuggamasta,

Welcome back! :-) Back with a huge entry, my goodness, this is really good. Oh, I love that moment where your music changes around 1:17 or 1:18, kind of nice modern sequence style. Tangerine Dream can close their business, you will take over :-D

Ha, ha, the end of your track is very funny! :-)

Nicely done, thank you very much for sharing this and kind regards, Garfield.

P.S.: How is the progress going with your DIY modules? Your rack looks pretty full :-) Do I notice a 3 or 4 HP free space, one more DIY module then? ;-) Are you considering a next rack or will you stay with the 98 HP?

Hi Nokulture,

Don't be too afraid of repetitive patterns, it can be beautiful as well, look for example at music from Philip Glass or Simeon ten Holt (Canto Ostinato). That's great repetitive stuff and they are not the only ones, just a few examples.

So, having that settled, you will become our new Philip Nokulture Glass, right? ;-) Keep up the good work and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Nokulture,

He, he, I think you succeeded in trying to emulate an old tape! :-) Nice little track, I wouldn't have mind it if it would be double or even triple the length.

Thanks a lot for sharing and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Gabor,

Oh yes, that sounds good :-) So your friend easily convinced you to go for the QPAS, right? ;-)

It is indeed a nice stereo filter. Great to share here so you can convince others to go for the QPAS too; I already got one and I am happy with it too. Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Slammer22,

Yes indeed, the filter of the Neutron is not too bad. It's not the same but might go about the same direction, how about Doepfer - A124 VCF5 Wasp filter? That's a nuts filter too :-) You can download the review report that I made about it (see my below mentioned website under my signature) and go to chapter 6 for some sound examples. Or use this link that takes you directly to that review report:

https://garfieldmodular.net/index.php/doepfer/doepfer-a-124-1/

But... ehm... why you don't take the Neutron out of your rack and put it back in it's original casing and then keep using it? I love the LFO of the Neutron, so useful once and a while. I have the Neutron still in my rack as well but I am going to put it soon back in it's original casing, as you mention, to free up some rack HP space; but I will still use the Neutron as well, no reason not to...

Good luck with whatever you decide (please let us know) and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Wishbonebrewery,

Indeed something different but nice, I feel it's somehow very nice and relaxing. The samples are partly quite funny too :-)

Nice new approach and I wouldn't mind if you go a bit more along this path. Thank you very much for trying something different and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Brunomolteni,

Nice video, interesting the way you do the split, provides the viewer with more "viewing" information, very nice! Ha, ha, I love those funny sounds at about 4:30+ :-) Nice reverb at the end of the track!

It's nice to see you at work and looks like you really enjoying this, as well as I did :-) Thank you very much for sharing this and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi ModLifeCrisis,

Just today I was wondering that I haven't heard much from you when you came with this new great track, yes! :-)

Oh-oh-ooohhh, this moment where that fantastic sound kicks in around 4:38 is just gorgeous! And a bit later in the 5 minutes I guess that just very small loop/sequence kind of thing that's running on the background is a small detail yet so lovely to listen at!

At 8:30+ your question about getting more SQ-1's... well if you like it that much, why not? On the other hand... isn't that a slightly bit pity? You know already what you are going to get, since you have already the SQ-1... how about a Five-12 Vector sequencer, directly get it with the Jack expander, for you? That might be just the nice tool for you?! :-)

Oh lovely ending of this track, so entirely relaxed and satisfied now... this is how every day should end! With this lovely end I am going to take a couple of hours of sleep :-D Thank you very much for taking me onto this sonic adventure/journey and kind regards, Garfield.

P.S.: I agree with your perfect CV controller, us, ourselves, our both hands and that possible bit of grey stuff between our ears ;-) I love to turn myself the knobs as well, so much more direct control, and indeed we all should have at least 8 arms and hands so we can do more manual control of our modular synths! ;-)

Hi ModLifeCrisis,

You are welcome :-)

I am most likely going to update this review report, I found a few typos and small missing information details as well as I received feedback from a reader that there might be actually an easy to archive subfunction that I want to check/test before updating it in a possible updated review report.

So there might be coming in the next few weeks an updated review report for the STO. Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Jingo,

Oh wow! That's a lovely ambient track. Not sure about you, but it calms me down very efficiently, so peaceful yet intriguing, yes really nice done :-) I love that high... what is it? feedback sound around 0:45, great effect :-)

Hi Zappacat,

Well indeed as a temporary solution this might just work, as far as I can see from a quick look at the 305 from Behringer it should have some basic VCA functionality as well.

The main concern I have with this module is that it is 24 HP wide... in such a small rack as yours, are you sure you want to spend so much HP for a temporarily solution?

If a dual VCA would be temporarily sufficient enough for you, why you don't consider the Doepfer - A-130-2, that's a dual VCA (lin or exp) and is only 4 HP wide instead of 24 HP ! And it's cheaper than the Behringer but of course only two channels instead of 4 channels for the large 305.

Or the Doepfer A-138n is a basic 4 channel mixer, much cheaper and also 4 HP only.

Up to you of course, good luck with the decision :-) Kind regards, Garfield.

P.S.: Providing a link to your rack, as you did here is perfectly fine, one can click on it and then the current rack view will be visible. The good point of doing it like this is that a reviewer can then easily see the modules you have in your rack. With a picture that's not possible.

Hi Quantum_Eraser,

Ooohhhh niiiiccceeee :-) Nice long drone-ambient... eh... film music? :-) Well, with or without film, this is nice relaxing yet interesting to listen at. It could go on for an hour and I still would love it!

Regarding the video, you might want to consider to clean the video head, pretty much ticks and stuff. Check with Musima (see the other just released track in this "You" section of the forum), they got very clean video heads, you might want to check with them ;-)

Ha, ha, just joking! Thanks a lot for sharing this and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Merzky_Shoom,

Ha, ha, interesting request you got there. So accordingly to Jim's above experiences it seems to be not very easy to push it that far. So in case really nothing goes well regarding blowing up your power supply then try a thick copper wire (well insulated at those parts where you hold it) and make a good shortcut somewhere on the power bus :-)

If that blows the fuse before something really can happen then remove the fuse, put something bare metal in there, make sure your house electrical circuit fuse works very well (otherwise you might get a serious problem) and then try again to short cut the bus. Be bloody careful okay because this might give you some serious effects, you have been warned! :-) If you are not sure about this then please don't do it! A test should stay fun and especially safe!

Would you mind to make a video of it, in case you decide to go ahead with blowing up your power supply? Might be interesting material to watch ;-)

Good luck with blowing up the power supply, stay safe though and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Systasis,

I was listening at your track and "suddenly" I was... I was... disturbed and... didn't know what was going on?! What happened? Your track ended and I missed it, this track of yours is so great, so joyful to listen at, this could be double length for me and I still would feel it's too short.

I really enjoyed listening at your music, it's relaxing as well as it inspires me while I was writing and being busy with one of my review reports :-) So thank you very much for this joyful moment and kind regards, Garfield.

P.S.: Hitting the play button again, I want this again, again, and again ;-)

Hi Funbun,

Lovely video as always, I still love the river where you live nearby, beautiful to watch your videos. At about 1:30+ what happened with that road that seems to disappear in the river? Or is that on purpose?

Nice AE system music accomplishes the video, great! :-) Thank you very much for sharing this and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Sacguy71 and Lugia,

Sacguy71: So which case is heaver that Doepfer PMS12 thing or the MDLR 12U?

Lugia: Indeed expensive, hence why I prefer the A-100 LMB/LMS9 set instead, better affordable, but of course doesn't look as good.

Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi The-Erc,

If you buy nowadays a new Doepfer case, it comes with the PSU-3 and that one goes up till 2000 mA for the +12 V, that's in most cases sufficient. I agree with you that the PSU-2 with only 1200 mA for the +12 V can be challenging.

Or you could buy the PSU3 unit and replace that with your current PSU2, I do think that's possible but please check before doing so (in case you are interested).

Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Sacguy71,

Wow, that's a great nice looking and indeed large setup, the A-100PMB together with the A-100PMS12 standing on top of the PMB! So you have now 6*168 HP = 1 kHP ;-) 1008 HP nicely in one large overview :-)

The MDLR case, are you going to use that for when you are going to meet friends or when you want to move with your modules somewhere else (holiday, laying on the beach or on the hotel's room balcony, in one hand a nice drink and the other hand controlling the modules in your MDLR case)? ;-)

Looks like you got yourself a few nice guitars too! I even don't know how to hold one ;-)

Oh indeed, I agree here with Wishbonebrewery, only 300 HP left, that sounds like a serious problem, so next year you buy another PMB+PMS12 set? ;-)

Enjoy your new studio setup together with these new Doepfer cases, now comes the case-versus-module-planning... where to put which module ;-) Have fun and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Mog00,

He, he, very nice chimes-kind-of-sounds and then indeed that wrong kind of... timing-sound? That makes it quite special, indeed in a nice way!

Interesting material and I wouldn't mind to hear more similar sounds and jams from you into this direction, curious where you would take us during your sonic journeys and adventures! :-) Thank you very much for sharing this and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Wishbonebrewery,

Oh that's a nice treat for the listener, this is a very interesting rhythm track. Indeed a quite nice snare sound and me, as a listener, I am enjoying your clap sound very much too! :-D

This is indeed a very interesting path you are going here and I wouldn't mind if you would explore this a bit further, with some more surprises for us, the listeners! Nicely done and thank you very much for making this a pleasurable start of my weekend, kind regards, Garfield.

P.S.: Nice beer can too! :-) But what do I see... only 4.2% alcohol, is that still called beer? ;-)

Hi ModLifeCrisis,

Now that's a lovely long track! The way you play with those sounds is beautifully done, it's a pleasure to listen at it :-)

He, he, very recognisable that you sit behind the computer and reshuffle the racks with your (future) modules and indeed quite additive; I experienced that as well. I need to start doing that for my new studio setup somewhere soon as well but still hesitating because I know once I start, I barely can stop...

Thank you very much for your nice demo video and the great sound, this is how every weekend should start, very enjoyable :-) ! Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Jingo,

Thank you for this fantastic track and Happy Easter to you too! :-)

Wow, that kick sound, that's a serious heavy and good one, wooo-ho-hoooo! How did you create that one?

I love those ping kind of sounds you made through out the music, nice piece of sound. Ha, ha, and those Science Fiction sounds around 2:00+ are fun as well!

Thank you very much for sharing this with us and I wish we had 6 or 12 times a year Easter, can't wait for next year Easter, I hope you come up with something like that then as well. :-D Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Sacguy71,

Long time haven't heard from you! Were you busy with your new studio setup? Is your studio called "Cathedral Studios"? :-)

New monster case arrives? Which one did you order? The A-100PMS9 or PMS12 :-) ? One of those would nicely fit on top of your A-100PMB monster case.

Around 5:40 that beat sound, what exactly is that? I mean how did you create that, sounds pretty cool. One little feedback, your voice's volume is a bit too low compared to your music so unless one changes the volume up and down every time when you speak, it's difficult to hear you.

It's nice to hear and see from you again in your new studio. Thank you very much for sharing and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Jim,

The only one 8 Multi I have, I bought that one for Euro 42.35 (including VAT) and guess from whom?

From Erica Synths' their website-shop. If I knew at that time that it was such a good offer and that they were going to be sold out and that it is such a good multiple, I would straight away have bought some more...

Dealers had the opportunity to buy at a reduced price this and other modules from Erica Synths as well, hence my reaction that the price is far too high. Kind regards, Garfield.
