Tunç Çakır Introduces New Project Groovesizer with “Yes, Sir Right!”
Electronic music producer, musician, and sound engineer Tunç Çakır releases his first single “Yes, Sir Right!” under his new project Groovesizer. The track is available on all digital platforms as of April 10 via the Netherlands-based Wic Recordings.
Groovesizer is positioned as a project in which Çakır reinterprets his long-standing musical background in a new form, bringing together the improvisational language of jazz with the sonic world of electronic music in an organic unity. The project is built on a performance and recording practice where acoustic and analog instruments coexist, with real-time interaction and generative structures at its core.
About the Artist
Tunç Çakır stands out as a versatile musician, producer, and sound engineer, working across electronic music production, jazz, and Latin music, both in Turkey and internationally.
Throughout his career, he has been involved in hundreds of recordings and live performances, developing a distinctive position in contemporary music production through his interdisciplinary approach. As a co-founder of VAEMI—one of the pioneering initiatives in analog synthesizer manufacturing in Turkey—he also maintains an active practice in electronic music technology.
At Volt.Age Studio in Istanbul, he continues to produce, record, mix, and master projects for a wide range of artists, drawing attention with his hybrid approach that combines analog and digital techniques.
On stage, he has shared performances with notable figures from the jazz and pop music scenes, further refining a musical language centered around improvisation and rhythmic expression. This approach intersects with his contemporary electronic productions, forming a unique artistic identity.
About the Track
“Yes, Sir Right!” is an instrumental and experimental piece positioned at the intersection of hip-hop and jazz aesthetics. With its groove-oriented structure, improvisation-based approach, and layered sound design, the track deliberately blurs the boundaries between composition and real-time creation.
The piece highlights a balanced interaction between distinct musical identities. Gökhan Sürer’s Wurlitzer and synthesizer layers shape the harmonic texture through both classical and contemporary perspectives, while Barış Öztürk’s electric bass performance provides a strong and fluid foundation for the groove. Efe Çakır’s scratch contributions introduce a rhythmic and textural layer that directly references hip-hop aesthetics.
Tunç Çakır, through drums, synthesizers, and overall sonic direction, establishes the main axis of both the rhythmic and structural integrity of the piece. This multi-layered construction emerges not only from individual performances but as a result of a collective musical reflex.
The recording process was primarily carried out at Volt.Age Studio, following a production approach where analog equipment played an active role. Drums, bass, synthesizers, and scratch recordings were largely captured here, preserving the feel of live performance. Additional synthesizer recordings were completed at Gökhan Sürer’s studio.
During the production process, sound design and programming were developed through a hybrid system combining analog signal processing, performative recording techniques, and digital editing methods. This approach enabled the track to achieve both an organic and highly detailed sonic character.
As the first release of the Groovesizer project, this piece also represents the starting point of a broader musical language that will continue to evolve in live performances.
