Hi!

I've been working on my first rack for far too long and I'm hoping for a little nudge in one or the other direction.

It's a rack used to process DAW sounds; individual samples and entire stems. It consists of 3 4ms 64x Pod's and one 60hp Pod (this made more sense logistically vs one large rack). It's about adding character and filtering outside the digital domain, to cut up and mangle using digital processing inside the box.

I've since decided that it makes more sense to maintain a stereo signal flow so I'm going to have to aquire duplicates for several modules. I know the Intellijel I/O module uses up HP that could technically be used differently, but I like having a fixed point of connection to my audio interface rather. The Ferry module will be used to integrate a stereo saturation FX pedal.

  • This is option 1: https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid_2650351.jpg?1726519034 I'm charmed by the Scan & Pan's gluey saturation from what I've heard in various examples, so I'd see it as a saturation device even though I also have the L-1 mixer. But, I also have the two 100 Grit's and the pedal integration, plus an outboard tube compressor, so another saturation module might be overkill.
  • This is option 2: https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid_2650435.jpg The Dim2 light is gone (handy, but not essential) and the Scan & Pan made way for the Verbos CV Processor. I'm always reading that utilities open up possibilities and perhaps the CV Processor does exactly that. On the other hand, I already have the 3xMIA for mixing/scaling/attenuverting and the L-1 ADSR can do work as slew limiter.
  • Option 3 has one of the Dr. Wiener Res EQ's: https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid_2650239.jpg This option is there because this video makes me go "oooh ": But, it's expensive and mono, and I'm not sure if this is just a very shiny "listen to these amazing opamps" unit that ends up not adding much value. I'd imagine it would be cool to process mono samples with it.
  • This is the above rack but with a bunch of other options to fill that 18 hp space: https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid2650441.jpg If I'm really convinced of a module I could stretch that to 20hp by not buying the M2 Ableton Link module. I have quite a bunch of other filters in the options section, and for instance I'm charmed by what I'm hearing from the Imagenes by Olivella, but I already have a few stereo filters and I'd like to minimize overlap... so doubts on that front as well.

Any thoughts on these options? Is there anything obvious that I'm missing? (Apart from Oscillators because this doesn't require sound sources).
