Hello gang. Can anyone help me design a Krell patch with my current setup? Is it possible to do without an ADSR that does not have stage inputs? Thanks!

Hello! I am reading 1984 by Haruki Murakami, It's a thrilling ride through Tokyo with a lot of suspense and mystery. It wasn't intentional but I think this patch was subconsciously inspired by this amazing novel. It is slightly different than my usual patches. Normally I design and map out my performances. This performance is mostly improvised. I created an arp, a basic bassline and I used a lot of modulation. Then I just pressed play with no plan and I started performing the patch. Let's see where this midnight ride through Tokyo will take me, I have no idea as well. Enjoy the ride!

Do you plan to use this entirely on its own or with other gear?

Mainly on its own, but from time to time I'll pair it with 0 coast.

My preference is to use VCAs for more VCA stuff, if you are mixing the 2x Stereo outs you'd take up all 4 chanels of Quad VCA and end up with Mono. Happy Nerding make 4xMix which is a compact 4hp mixer - https://modulargrid.net/e/happy-nerding-4x-stereo-mix
If you want something with a bit more scope then the DPW Designs M1 adds stereo panning and a bunch of other things https://modulargrid.net/e/dpw-design-m1-mix but its more HP

Enjoy your spare HP, don't rush to fill every last space, this is not like filling sticker books. Resist the urge to 'complete' your rack, its never complete so just relax.

Where are you doing your mixing? You have 2 Stereo outs from Mimeophon and Morphagene but nothing I can see you can mix with.

I am thinking about VCA-s as a mixer as well. Do you think I should replace one VCA by mixer?
In case of 3 VCO. As long as I know, 3 Oscillators is a pretty common number.

Theoretically it should be fine. It's a lot of voices at once, but that could be good for layering or audio rate modulation or something.

Do you already own all these?

Thanks so much.

Mavis is already blowing my mind,
and I'm only a few days into this journey.
so I'm feeling good.

I've taken about 15 pages of written notes from watching youtube videos about Mavis
I'm now working through the notes, every page is taking me to a lot sonic places

My original idea was to take steps module by module towards a basic Doepfer setup....
But i watched a bunch of videos about Mavis, and it felt like the best starting point for learning.

In fact, probqbly the next thing will be moog DFAM, which wasn't originally how I expected things would go.

The Doepfer basic VCO may be a bit of a 'stranded asset' for a while.
But maybe not. We'll see.
My plan was to get two Doepfer VCOs, and seriously learn the principles of osc sync, hands on, from first principles.
That could still happen along the way.

Power Supply (uZeus 4HP) specs:
+12V: 2000 mA
-12V: 500 mA
+5V: 170 mA

Doepfer basic VCO A-110-1 needs:
+12V: 90 mA
-12V: 20 mA
+5V: 0 mA

Moog Mavis needs:
+12V: 112 mA
-12V: 0 mA
+5V: 0 mA

you can simply sum up those numbers for each power line (+12V, -12V, +5V) and compare it with the numbers of your power supply. as a recommendation you should not exceed 75-80% of the given power supply

If those numbers are correct (please verify yourself) it is totally safe to use it for your 2 modules. Further you have a lot of headroom for more power hungry modules left...

Hi everyone
I'm a TOTAL beginner with zero knowledge of synths and electronica , so I hope a very, very basic question is OK.

So far I have...
1. a TIPTOP Audio rack with a power supply on the rack - it is this one https://www.thomann.de/gb/tiptop_audio_happy_ending_kit_black_eu.htm

  1. A Doepfer basic VCO A-110-1
  2. A Moog Mavis

I know i can use the Mavis in it's own case, but i want to put them both on the rack

My super basic question is, am i safe to power these two off the Tiptop's power units's ribbon connection without blowing them up

and/or do i need to know anything or adjust anything here?

Thanks if you can help!

Hi JDavidson1,
We just sent you an email with a few details. Unfortunately your Rosci was from a small batch which has an issue fitting into certain cases. We have been working hard to correct the error on our end and send everyone facing this issue a new Rosci. We appreciate your patience, and we really want you to have a great experience with Rosci :)

I have this module, and the function is great. When I first received the module, it did not fit into my rack. I reached out to Omnitone and they let me know there was a small number of modules produced that have this problem. They immediatley offered to send me a new module, free of charge. I have recieved the new module, along with a kind note from Tristan and Liz, and it sounds great. This is a really fun module to use, as you set parameters and then generate waveforms till you get what you want. Super fun and easy to use. I would highly reccomend.

The solution is to redirect (301 redirection, it's important for the developer to know) all incoming traffic directed towards the .com domain to the .net one. In this way every previous link will continue to work and you cak keep the alternative domain in a safe SEO way.

Thanks, I am looking if the Cloudflare servers make any noticable sense. Have no user reports about that. For me it does not feel faster so maybe, we just fix it back to .net and 301 everything like you said.
Best, Knut

After starting this thread, I was looking for a solution that would work for a tiny space where I am not allowed to mount anything on the walls (rented flat). And I chose the most difficult option: to build a cable organiser myself. It took me several tries and this is what I got 2 years later:

It does the job for a small system and fits nicely on the desk.
I posted my story on Reddit if you're interested in the details.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, this is very helpful!

alias subdomain for MG?

modulargrid.com is now an alternative domain for modulargrid.net. It uses Cloudflare so it might be even a bit faster.

-- modulargrid

Hi guys, I've recently found out this secondary domain.
I'm a long time user of modulargrid and I hope I could help with the SEO and the UX of your project.

I worked for a leading web marketing agency in Italy and IMHO even if your programmer set a "canonical" URL reference on the .com domain to the .net one, it's a little bit strange (also for Google) to have a fully accessible alternative site to browse.
It could generate confusion when people share links and worst it can diminish the inboud linking effect that usually boost up SEO or, in other words, this situation can make your pages less findable on Google.

The solution is to redirect (301 redirection, it's important for the developer to know) all incoming traffic directed towards the .com domain to the .net one. In this way every previous link will continue to work and you cak keep the alternative domain in a safe SEO way.

PS. You can set cloudflare to handle the .net domain OR you can invert my suggestion keeping the .com one and redirecting the .net one.

I hope you appreciate this tip ;-) let me know.

Marco

Thread: EM-tous

Hi

Moving for a month, i am joggling with all possibilities i may have to fill either a 4-MS rack or my Intellijel rack.
May i say it would be great - i admit to be a beginner - to have some advices. My aim is to learn with what i would have on display while abroad and lonely !

Any updates ?

Delays often play an essential part in modular music
Estroe has Nautilus by Qubit
I have Sealegs by Intellijel
Both modules are gorgeous delays
both with a nautical themed name

Estroe loves my Sealegs,I love Estroe’s Nautilus :D
Luckily when you make music together you can have both!
In this video we combine Nautilus and Sealegs and we loved what came out of our synths. The music actually made us think of the ocean and waves, so we were on theme. Please enjoy this nautical trip!

Raaf

As usual, an excellent user guide and build guide which will tell you a lot about making electronics for music (or otherwise), go to their web site and download this even if you don’t buy the module, it’s free.

Pretty straightforward build, good 3-4th kit because of some tight soldering.

And it sounds really really good! I tried some non-standard things during the demo and this is a very versatile unit, I’ll be putting this in the main rack.

Thread: Second

Contact the manufacturer, otherwise familiarize yourself with basic principles of compression and you should be good.
Have fun and good luck!

i need a manual for the l1 microcompressor.
can somebody help please?

A good LFO could be the Erica Synths modulator. It is quite small and powerful for both percussive and generative sounds

I seld things on Ebay and Reverb, its more of a buyers market out there at the moment though.

I have not bought any new gear in 2 years. I bought tons of modular synths during the pandemic but now have everything needed and actually need to sell off stuff not being used. What are best places to sell used synth gear? I have several modular synths and a dozen modules that I want to sell off.

pretty standard but a good start to get you goining.

consider to add;
attenuverter/scaler/polarizer
a nice lfo
a filter
mult, clock divider, switch
maybe another soundsource

Marbles and o_C do do the job to play 'itself'

Pams is always nice for everything

Greetings

Chris

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie to modular and I've just gotten an Arturia Rackbrute 6u to pair with my MiniBrute 2S. From playing around in VCVRack and looking at tutorials, I think I've identified a solid set of modules to get my toes wet. My ultimate goal is to build something that can play itself.

The Erica Synths pico modules, doepfer envelope generator and nanorings came with the rack.

What do you think?

Any suggestions for other modules?

I'm also wondering about whether I should get a Pamela's new workout, what do you all think?

ModularGrid Rack

Thank you for looking at my rack!

powered by 2 Clicks&clocks power supply 1200mA each for +12 /-12

read any decent guide to compression - the parameters are always the same! what specifically are you having trouble with?

Recently I acquired Dual dagger by Shakmat. A bueatiful stereo filter in only 6 hp. It completed my ambient signal path with Rings into Dual dagger into a vca into Beads into the mixer with Sealegs in the send and return. I wanted to highlight this signal path with this video and create some ambient textures and lush arps. So enjoy the music and if you like this video please consider to like and subscribe to my channel. Thank you so much!

One big button that says "Push here for Talent"

I believe they call this "generative music".

Yeah, experimentation, experience and luck = Talent (Maybe!)

Thanks for this quick reply. I will go completely modular and skip the semimodular synths

Circadian Rhythms is a gate/trigger sequencer. I don't believe it has either pitch CV outputs or MIDI outs. The Wasp is very limited in its eurorack connectivity, so you will need a MIDI sequencer of some sort, like a Keystep or something to get gate and pitch sequences happening since it doesn't have gate and pitch inputs.

I have a "Tiptop audio circadian rhythms" and a "Erica Synths Black VC Clock V2" to generate rhythms.
After Later Audio - Resonate (Rings), Typhoon, MVMNT, Tiptop audio Z5000 as fx to start with.

What sequencer are you using? What modules are you trying to integrate with the Wasp?

I am starting with modular synth and trying to understand bit by bit.
What puzzles modular me now is how to "play" Behringer Wasp Deluxe with eurorack.
I cannot trigger a rhythm or a pitch, I don't find out how to send sequencer gate to Wasp or even pitch it.
Trs to midi does fail on me also.
Any tips?
Greetings
Alex

Behold! My not-so-compact live performance eurorack rig.

Top row: IO to and from an analog line level mixer. Synapse acts as a router/VCA for x4 aux sends from the mixer to the effects modules. The Hapax comes into the system via the FH2 and its exapnder modules in the top right corner.

Middle row: everything to the right of Zadar is a voice. Everything to the left of Zadar is another voice. the Dimension Mk3 is controlled via midi from the Hapax.

Bottom row: everything to the left of Prism is a voice - mainly intended for percussion. The Assimil8or's midi expander is bolted onto the side of the case for midi connection to the Hapax.

The Hapax is an absolute beast!

Done. Pre CR.
And I'm going to use it to overdrive my Geosync TB-0 / TB-EFA.

Research HRTF (Head-Related Transfer Function). I don't have the module, but it is on my list. You must use headphones to explore this module.

Hello, i have bought a Neuzeit Quasar and noticed there are not a lot of videos on it or about it. Does anyone here also own one and if yes what is your experience like with it. Do you happen to know where i can find more content focused on this modules strengths. Also is there a place to share patches that can be uploaded to the Quasar? If yes feel free to drop the link below.

Planning to do a deep dive into my Quasar and wondering if i should document the process and share patches i come up with.

Thanks for reading.
