Two of my most used modules are made in Barcelona, Endorphin.es' Milky Way and Cockpit 2. I moved to Long Island from Brooklyn some time ago and it has been real tough to find places to play out here compared to the city. I am trying to organize some local shows and find cool spots along the way. I do like the idea of playing at a record store. People see you through the window and come in and shop a little. We got a pretty good standing crowd.

Here in Spain, unfortunately, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find this type of collaboration between small venues (music stores, cafes, bookstores...) and people willing to make live music with synthesizers. And I know that there are people with more than enough level to make good sets.
In the area where I live, Barcelona, there are some sporadic acts but they are always in a "concert" format, with club schedule.

Nice set.

-- ferranadsr

Big thanks!

Here is the final part of the set. I actually had some ambient connective tissue between these sets and there was another 10 minutes or so after this track that my DAW unfortunatly did not record. C'est la vie. It is a fitting conclusion. A little whimsy.

just delete the whole post. this is a database, not ebay...

A dark ambient-ish piece with Mangrove behaving like a jazz trumpet at times... I guess. Some patch details in the video description. Thanks for watching!

I am inspired by birth, death and the events inbetween.

the person who added it is selling this system on their user page, i'd mark this as a frivolous and self-serving. DELETE it PLEASE.

LOL why did Moog post a magazine style ad to a tool for theorycrafting racks?

A visual voltage level monitor, attenuator, and mixer from Molten Modular in partnership with Befaco.
Two surface mount parts to solder on, but not tough ones. The rest of the build is straightforward, I’d call it an intermediate kit.

The result is visually appealing, and a great way to monitor voltage swings, my demo with an LFO shows how useful I think it would be for that.
All in all a nice kit, the first from Molten, we’ll be looking for more!

It would be nice to set a "maximum depth" for a rack, that disallows adding a module that is deeper.
-- nathan_wiggles

I second this. It could be added the same way max/exact width is done when searching for modules though.

I just got a TipTop Zverb so the constant wash of Reverb Shimmer comes from this, Marbles is in control, all Oscillator sound is coming from the MakeNoise STO, Clouds is taking crackling noise which is filtered via the ADDAC VC T-Networks, Mimeophon is in Purple mode with sorta looping delay, Modulation across this patch is from NLC Sloths, Divkid/Instruo Ochd and a 2hp RND, I'm using the Befaco Burst to bring probability to the on and off gates that hit Flip on Mimeophon.
Def a fun little patch which makes for very easy listening.

Hope you enjoy.

Great little utility module. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Easy communications and transaction with seller. Recommended!

Just got mine the other day. So far i like it, but i would love to see some patch examples.

Go go go!

I've got another 3u 104hp case coming and I'm considering how I should move modules around.
I suppose I want each case to work at least partly as a self-contained rack, I may look at putting a Mixer into each case, and maybe some sort of effects, if it doesn't already have.

New Case (Top) - I've just thrown a few things in but the intention is to maybe move the weirder and less-used modules into here. This might not be displaying the correct link Image so click through to the actual rack
ModularGrid Rack

Main Case (Middle) - This is exactly how it is now.
ModularGrid Rack

Percussion Row (Bottom) - This is exactly as I have it now, I'm pretty happy with how this is though if anything moves it will be the ADDAC 104VC T-Networks as I like it for making crackly filtered noise.

Things I'm planning to sell.

I think I'll probably end up with one more case so I end up with a small esoteric / weird shit / sound mangling case.

Thanks for any input :)

Thread: Case sizing

Making one oversized rack and subdividing it into 'actual racks' with largish blank panels has been helpful to me for simultaneous multi-case organization in the past.

Knowing that i can copy/paste between browser windows will make it even more effective next time (in 'saving' the results to individual racks).

You got me! I actually got to the middle of the third row in the video before I realized it.
Kudos

I wish. Someday I am going to do some UK synth tourism.

Nice sequel.

Thanks :) Ha yes, I did get a little conceptual with this set.

Thread: Case sizing

Can we have multiple cases in view, all at once?

No, but you can open several racks in different browser windows and copy paste modules via keyboardshortcuts c and v across windows.

You should try the Moffenzeef System Bus Mult. It would work great in combination with the above rack. See Oh, and I love the (almost) clean black/silver divide!

Anyone going to Synthfest 2023 in Sheffield?

I'm going. I'm not affiliated, just keen to get a day away. :)

I broke the video and audio I managed to capture from the set into three parts. This is the second track, which I think of as a sequel to Orbit Shift. Actually, Satellite Fall was thought of while thinking of names for what would become Orbit Shift, and I really wanted this one to have a related quality but with its own distinctive feel.

Yeah, sounding really great!!

Thanks bud. Love your stuff too.

Thanks for the info. I'm reading as much as I can 'bout modular but stumble upon a standard problem every now and then.

Strange thing is that a lot of manuals of modules do not mention the voltages of CV in and/or out (the sometimes frowned upon Behringer does have excellent tables w/ all info you need for instance).

but almost definitely because it was copied from the original...

Is there an "unwritten law" or standard like 0 to 10 V for filter CV in if not otherwise specified? I mean: even if you have a utility module, don't you have to know the exact voltage specifications of the modules to patch 'm together via a utility module?
-- MeneerJansen

not really, the only things that are "standard" are dimensions and power... and even then...

reality is you don't, most of the time I want attenuated modulation anyway... less is more etc

Just got one of these and feel like its another good piece of the modular puzzle, I could play a full set with nothing but a Radio Music and this!

Push entire row of Modules

In the planner there are two new buttons that appear on hover to push one or more modules to the adjacent side.
This can also be used with shortcuts n and m.
The older shortcuts , and . to push only single modules still exist.
The button to flip modules is removed because I think that was not used enough and took too much space. The function is still there with shortcut f for flip.
-- modulargrid

dudes, the rotate/flip fuction was essential.

the way it worked before was way better.

please put it back / make Rotate available.
-- RunnyKine

I agree. Would prefer flip.
Also, it is more difficult to move 2-4hp modules around now. There is a very tiny space that you must grab.
Thanks for everything you do!

fantastic!

How did you stuff 3 Mother 32s into that Behringer Go case? Specs say that one row is 140hp and specs on the Mothers are 60hp each (equaling 180hp). What am I missing?

yes, kind of... and kind of a common question... but...

you won't do any damage sending 10V into the eudemonia, what will happen is the envelope will be cut off at the top and the filter will never "close" properly

the solution is to use a negative offset of 5v... these are commonly found in attenuverters... or if you have it, maths - channel 2 or 3 have offsets built in - see the manual for which is 5v and which it 10v... other modules that also have this functionality (off the top of my head) are mutable shades and happy nerding 3 x mia...

this is why you NEED utility modules - they solve little problems that crop up all the time...

see my signature for a cheat sheet of how to get the most versatility from your modular for the least expense...

hope this helps!

The Dreadbox Eudemonia filter takes an input CV of -5/+5 Volt. However, some of the Envelope Generators that I'm considering have an output CV of 0 to 10 V. Are they compatible?

Hi all,
I've been into modular for a few years and mostly make ambient music (http://songsforatiredcity.bandcamp.com) - But lately i've also been thinking about making some industrial techno. in addition to this rack, I use an O-Ctrl and an Octatrack. 4 voices go into the mixer, with disting set to a reverb send. The master is sent to the octatrack with a filter and compressor at the end. I've started to perform more often now but find myself patching in similar ways - Just wanted to get some feedback from you all on some patching ideas I may not have thought of! In general for gigs, I like to set up 4 voices - with two voices playing melodies recorded into the hermod via the octatrack midi section and then tweaked with hermod effects and another two that are usually either doing bass and a random S&H counter thing or just some fx/sounds..
ModularGrid Rack
The marbles in there in there is a placeholder for a DIY locked sample and hold that someone in Goa built for me https://ozoe.fr/articles.php?lng=fr&pg=438&mnuid=316&tconfig=0

I've also very recently added a dot, morphagene, BIA, 1U attenuator and a 1U bernoulli gate but I haven't had the chance to fully explore them yet. I also have a clouds, pluck and mysteron that I recently removed from the setup. Ideally i'd llike to restrict myself to a 7U setup.

Would love to hear what ya'll think!

Thanks to you both for the kind feedback, it means a lot.

Regarding my teeshirt, ha! Yes, it is an original Soundgarden teeshirt from their Superunknown tour in 1994. Saying that shirt is nearly 30 years old blows my mind. I think it is officially past the point where I can machine wash it. That show may have been the last time it gets worn casually haha.

Hi mate. As waveshaper I have picked the Joranalogue Audio Design Fold. Which mixer and filter can you recommend. End of chain will be a Midas Venice mixing desk.
The rythm sends midi clock to the beat step and the beat step sending clock to the Modul( Hope that is working like that)
-- Philekkk

well definitely an audio submixer - for combining the 2 vcos before hitting a filter - slightly detune one of them firat, & preferably a matrix mixer - add a nice quad lfo/envelope generator (zadar/batumi etc etc) to make the most of this for deriving complex modulations... but I'd also want at least one module like a happy nerding 3 x mia particularly for cv mixing/offset

I'd add a PNW (inexpensive used) or PPW to add clock divisions and a load of other features etc - will also help on the sync front - you might find you are better off with an expander for pams (to allow clocking from the rythm) and then clock the beatstep from Pams

I'd also add a simple clock divider as you can get square wave sub octaves out of it - /2 = -1ve, /4 = -2ve etc...

switches of all kinds are useful in live situations, as are 'scene controllers' - like Music Thing Modular Control

filters? I think they're very personal, and really you are only going to get recommendations of people's favourites (or whatever is trendy that week) - at least in terms of specific modules... personally I like Doepfer (for both utility modules and filters) as they are reasonably priced and do what they sau they do...

It’s interesting to have a live version now.
The adaptation of the bass and drums is very satisfactory.

In addition to your music, I appreciate your communicative joy (and humor) as well as loyalty to your old teeshirt.

Also, your hat :)

Great recording. Love your studio too.

part. 1/3 I recorded the set and decided to share it. As usual, I can't help but dance :# I split the set into a few sections. I think it works better for watchability. Here's the first one. It's actually a weird version of Orbit Shift, a collaboration I did with a drum and bass artist. I posted the official audio of that track here a few weeks ago. I didn't have my co-producer's bass or breakbeats, so I kind of winged a few drum sequences and a different take on the bass. Anyways hope you watch it and I'd love any feedback. Also, my hat.

in my opinion it would be better to close the remaining gaps with each push one by one with each click
your soulution removes all gaps at once
thx anyway
