I am not a very experienced trader, but I have done some (successful) trades in the french market (audiofanzine) in the past using services like paypal F&F.
I get why there's a strong recommendation against using it to trade gear. There's basically no real guarantee for the buyer.
I had a person ask me recently if we could go through PP buyer protection, while I have nothing against it in principle, the policy states that the buyer has 180 days (!) to lodge a complaint. Thats's 6 months where anything can happen, and from what I read, "things" happen : apparently the system is commonly abused, with a skew favoring the buyer.
Seems to me these services transfer the risk to the seller. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see little upside on my end, as a seller.
Question for experienced sellers : short of reverb (or looper in france which is down atm) : is there a less risky way to do payment while offering guarantees on both side ?
