On my mobile device, I can't load patches. If I do, it'd after google chrome crashes 5+ times and freezes up, etc. Is this a bug, or are patches not supposed to load on phones?
-- Ashekyu
Sorry, I think this is a bug in the mobile browser. I discovered it at least on iOS devices. But it should affect only larger racks ...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
This bug bothers me as well.
Can i suggest to completely skip any currency conversions and just have $ and € MRSP entered manually?
Actually you can do that right now.
Currency conversion is just the fallback if only one value is entered.
I need the currency conversion to get at least halfway usable results for the calculation of total rack cost.
Btw.: Converted currencies have the ≈ sign prepended and are blue, while manually entered values are black.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Ah, I hadn't realised that they could do that. I guess some manufacturers aren't too bothered about people changing the picture.
I think most of them don't know about it, although I have sent every registered manufacturer a sloppy email :)
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Hey, completely understand the annoyance and I am not happy with the panel graphic ping pong, either.
But just to note: I have introduced the manufacturer approval feature, where manufacturers can lock their modules from further editing. That includes panel graphics.
Olivier and the other manufacturers can do this any time ...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Well, you can always print the screenshot by yourself?
The only one you can not print yourself is the ModularGrid poster of the 870 most popular modules, because it is not possible to create such big racks on MG.
Reasonable cost is an other thing, those services charge a lot for small series...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
i can not see patches on iPad/iphone which are on racks bigger than 5 rows. ?
-- cj3000
That is an iOS Bug, as far as I can see.
The currency for module prices seems to default automagically to USD, despite having EUR set on the user profile.
This happens quite erratically, without any particular defined pattern. Not a big thing, but you know...
-- GmbH
This Bug is known and already on my list. I thought nobody will notice that. But now I have to look into it, damn.
Also the conversion calculation is way off. It uses a hardcoded constant from times, when the Euro actually was worth anything...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Ascending/Descending sortability on HP. Price too, probably.
-- TidalWaveform
Good one, put that to the list.
About patching on MG:
I would like to choose what colours are used for my patch cables (not by length as of now)!
IRL, I always colour code everything, as in all colours mean something. So much easier to follow a complex patch this way, at least for me...
-- KNYST
That would be quite an effort. The patching feature is not the most used feature of MG, so not top priority...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
If you edit an offer it will be bumped (bring up my post) to the top of the list.
Manufacturer can approve the specs of their modules and lock them from further editing by users.
This should increase safety of power specs and prevent upload wars for the nicest panel graphic.
Approved specs are tagged with a nice seal icon which took me hours to make so you better like it.

@mt3 I see. So this might come ...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
I have unlisted the module formerly known as Bees in the Trees. It won't pop up in the module browser anymore.
It's not easy to delete it completely without messing up racks from users but I think it's o.k. to have a reference here in the forum what the discussion was about.
@Bennelong.Bicyclist: I am sure many people are interested in this, so it would be great if you mention it in the Braids Thread. This way it will show up on the Braids detail page as a comment, too.
Thanks all, I think we have cleared it up.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
This is valuable info for sure but I see a problem with duplicate too. I think it would be better to attach the Bees in the Trees info to Braids or as a forum entry linked to the module.
Just "comment" the text to Braids and a forum entry will automatically generated.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
minor cosmetic changes to the module detail view
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Because everyone can edit anything, Gridlers are not tired to upload their favorite image and overwrite the existing one.
Thats far from ideal in this case. There might be an update which locks the Edit mode for modules where the specs are manufacturer approved ...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Unicorn members can now easily swap entire rows in the planner.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
A way to "star" (GitHub style) a module would be a great way to keep track of interesting modules.
-- Arko
I think we had similar requests in the thread on Muffs. A list for favorite or owned modules which is also accessible in the planner for quicker drag'n'drop. This might come.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
The Facebook of Modulars!
In general I like the idea but in the past most attempts to get more user interaction were not so successful.
I replaced the original module comment section nobody used with the forum which is hardly used either.
I removed the general user activity feed from the homepage for privacy and performance reasons.
Nobody recognized this, nobody complained.
We had even a live chat at some time ...
I am not sure which benefits user get from a friend following function. I think only follow friends would not be enough, but a modular user timeline might be a little silly?
I'd like a way to actually search for users in an easier way.
-- exper
Besides a little bit hidden this works pretty fine for me?
http://www.modulargrid.net/e/users
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Prepend an @ to a username in a post and a link to the users profile page will be generated, e.g. @modulargrid
We had a very loose validation schema for usernames. For security reasons from no on only alphanumeric characters and numbers are allowed.
No spaces, Umlauts, Parenthesis etc.
Existing usernames stay the way they are until those users change anything in their profile (email, password). Then they have to adapt their username to the new rules as well.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
In the meantime, can we make a "Good Trader" thread in the forum?
-- bj_gzp
Good Trader thread is a great idea! Find it here:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/forum/posts/index/563
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Since we do not have a feedback/rating system for sellers and buyers on the marketplace yet you can use this thread to name the people you did good business with.
If you prepend an @ to a username, a link to the persons profile page will be generated.
The thread is searchable so it should be easy to find users with a good reputation over time.
Edit:
We now have a simple user rating system!
On every users profile page you can vote up or down your experience with a user.
You just vote the user one time in general, no single transactions. It does not matter if you are the seller or buyer.
The accumulated votes will be displayed on offers and in the user profile.
You can always revoke your vote by clicking again on the thumb button.
To get started feel free to rate users you had transactions with in the past.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

Is this the rack you are referring to?
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/synth/153674/954
There are no TrueGrid playable modules in it. Only a little selection of modules work in TrueGrid, check the "Playable in TrueGrid" option in the ModuleBrowser to see them.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
This might come. Currently everything is tied to modules, because that's the way the database works.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

This should work now.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
It now mentions the A-131 Exponential VCA on the right hand side. Is that expected?
-- ishizeno
This is an automated API query to http://www.eurorackdb.com/ which "guesses" best results for your modules name.
If you are listed there, too this will vanish.

The ModularGrid Marketplace is an area where private persons can trade their modules. The Marketplace is also tightly integrated in ModularGrids search engine and lets you run complex searches on offers via the Module Browser. A convenient notify function alerts you if someone offers a module you desire.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
A feedback system will come. I am thinking about verification, too, but that is hard to layout.
I won't limit the usage to Unicorns, because everyone should be able to test the Marketplace.
People actually have to put stuff on it to make it interesting.
At the moment I tried to make it as easy and flexible as possible, so many things are missing or feeling not quite polished.
If the Marketplace will be used in the future for sure there will be a lot of upgrades and some Unicorn enhancements too.
also,a way to put up images unless you can already do that
-- MarsFace
No image uploads, but you should be able to embed images and videos via the markdown syntax.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
When clicking on the module's picture from the following page, an older version of the module's image is used.
That is probably a cache issue on your browser. Looks good here.
Also, what should be the process for adding a new module maker? ISHIZENO sounds a lot better than "other-unknown".
Added Ishizeno as manufacturer. Welcome to ModularGrid!
Thanks in advance for your help!

On the Module Detail Pages you can make use of the Notify function for a specific module. You will get an email if someone offers a module you are interested in.
You can set your country in the user settings, so you only will get offers in your continent.
If you did a successful trade add your business partner to the Good Traders on the Marketplace thread.
That will build up trust and reputation over time.

cost of case
cost of power supplies

While everyone is going crazy about Namm, ModularGrid created the worlds advanced modular synth poster :)
The poster contains over 870 of the most popular eurorack modules you guys put in your racks.
Not sure what kind of a power supply one would need to drive this $200.000 whale.
If someone needs a gift for themselves or a geeky friend, it's available at Zazzle.

I would like to see the ability to have multiple racks on the same page. For example, have number of racks and then it splits and has rack one, rack two, etc. It would be nice to be able to layout a large multi-rack system on a single page.
That will not come very soon but there is a nice workaround already:
you can open two racks in different browser windows and you can copy and paste modules between the browser windows with c, x and v keyboard shortcuts.
Would also like to see an Excel-compatible spreadsheet of the modules generated from the program.
A CSV export might be possible, I will look into this ...

Renamed private modules to unlisted modules and added a red alert text to the upload form.
This should make it clearer that modules are always accessible for everyone if the URL is known, even if they have the unlisted flag.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
So "private" is what YouTube calls "unlisted", I see.

To make it clearer that there is no real module privacy on ModularGrid
Thanks for your feedback! I always need user input to improve things.

BUG REPORT: "PRIVATE" MODULES
Modules tagged as "private" are visible to anyone. If the tag is not meant to mean "this is hidden from anyone but the module's creator", this should be made clear, otherwise that's a bug that should be fixed.
It is not a bug but an intended function. Private modules are just excluded from the module browser, but they are accessible if you know the URL. Same function exists on other sharing sites like YouTube too.
I see I failed miserable to make this clear and will improve the description text in the upload form.
The issue came up here: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1747830#1747830
It's also not clear (at least to me) why "private" and "duplicate" are combined into one tag.
In the ModularGrid way the duplicate tag has the same purpose as the private tag.
They just should exclude modules from the module browser and search engine.
But you are still be able to add them to your racks if you like.
ModularGrid wasn't made on one day so a lot of inconsistencies from new features sneak into the system.
I try to iron them out over time, sorry for your inconvenience ...
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Hi!
Well we should have something to inform us of how many HP we have free on our racks and when you hover your mouse over a free space it should input the amount of HP free on the space! That would rock and would make my life much easier!
This idea was requested some time ago. I think it would be cool, but it is not that easy to do.
I will look into this again ...
Btw payed today Unicorn account and I'm more than happy to maintain ModGrid alive 4ever :D

Btw. that is not exactly what you want to see but as a workaround:
the Data Sheet sums up all your used HPs in your rack...
Data Sheet for your Rack
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
I see. I think there will be a problem with the image resizing.
I once had plans to merge TrueGrid (great blinking lights) and the planner in one application, but this was a little to ambitious.
Will see what time brings
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
At the power consumption stats under your Rack you find a link to the Data Sheet.
It's a spreadsheet like table with all modules in your Rack.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
You can not upload any images to the forum, but you can already embed gifs via markdown syntax.
Do this

to see this

Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Hey, this is a nice idea. This may come but not very soon.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
This feature adds a warning in Rack view under the power consumption stats, if modules of a Rack have missing power specs.
All power related values are displayed in the Popover so it's easier to find what is missing.
To exclude passive modules like mults from the incomplete power consumption alert they can be flagged as a passive module.
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
Show/hide "other/unknown" manufacturers is now set to show by default to prevent the upload of duplicates recently because users "could not find the module".
Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net
I implemented https a while ago and wanted to test the site in deep before announcing it. But Google was faster and redirects directly to https if you coming from their search.
So, yeah, it should work in general.
Your browser will show the "broken lock" on some pages where content is included from the non-secure CDN server, though.
Regardless, you are save to login with your password from dubious Bangkok WLAN spots when in urge to check for latest modules on your holiday vacation.
