Tour is a compact 4HP Eurorack module based on a 32-step shift register with four simultaneous outputs. It is designed for creating looping pseudo-random gate and CV sequences that balance variation with repetition, making it suitable for rhythmic patterns, melodies, basslines, and modulation. It includes turing machine-like controls as well for steering your sequences to taste.
At its core, Tour combines a shift register with an internal random source. Instead of producing continuously changing random data, sequences can be looped, allowing musical structure and groove to emerge. The four outputs expose different taps of the register, enabling multiple related gate streams from the same sequence.
When used with a DC-coupled mixer, the gate outputs can be combined to generate stepped CV, turning Tour into a pseudo-random CV sequencer. With a matrix mixer, this approach can be extended to create several interrelated CV signals for complex modulation patches. Tour can also be used purely as a gate sequencer, with density and variation controlled via its inputs.
Tour includes clock, reset, random, toggle, clear, pulse, and CV inputs for shaping and evolving sequences in real time. The CV input allows gradual or periodic introduction of randomness for generative, slowly evolving loops.
Tour is the third firmware in the Logic platform. The module is USB-updateable, and future firmwares can be installed free of charge using the web-based programmer. Two alternate firmwares are also available and can be selected via rear configuration switches, without a computer.
