percussion with vu meters

_ABOUT:
The vu-perc is a drum sound module for eurorack that uses vu meters to hit something (in this case a metal spring) that is connected to a piezo element.
_GATE:
The signal is gated by a envelope that is trigert by the trigger input, to prevent feedback when its used over a large PA.. (I have not tested it in live situations yet)
When you plugin a signal to the CV input the signal connected is used to control the envelope (top right socket).
_VOLUME:
The output signal is about 10v PP +5v/-5v.
_IMPORTANT:
Stripped tubing from a electrical wire is put over the tip of the vu meters hitter, this prevents the vu meter from making direct contact with the spring.
If the hitter makes direct contact with the spinge there will be a large click, because its sort of short circuiting a bit.
So make sure the hitter is hitting the spring in the correct position.
_TYPES:
There are different types of vu-percs (look at the demo video's to see what the vu-perc can do).
_BLACK:
In the up position; it will let the signal send in thru.
In the middle position; nothing happens.
In the down position; it will shorten the signal send in, it will need a signal with a sharp rising edge to operate, like a square wave, it works best with 10v PP signal.
_WHITE:
In the up position; it will shorten the signal send in, it will need a signal with a sharp rising edge to operate, like a square wave, it works best with 10v PP signal.
In the down position; nothing happens.
The white vu-percs also have a output volume control trimmer pot and a trimmer pot for setting the return position after a hit.
The white vu-percs have some polarity protection for the power connector, the black vu-percs don't have this.
_POWER:
Power consumption is low (still need to actually test, is probably around 30ma).
