The DM-2 is one of those classic BOSS pedals that really earns its reputation once you hear it in person. The repeats are warm, rounded, and a little dark in the best possible way, with that soft analog decay that sits beautifully behind the dry signal instead of getting in the way. The original DM-2 offers a 20 ms to 300 ms delay range, and that simple three-knob layout—Repeat Rate, Intensity, and Echo—makes it easy to dial in anything from a short slapback to a thick, slightly murky vintage ambience. BOSS has continued to describe the original DM-2 sound as a sought-after analog delay voice even long after the model was discontinued.
This is a late-model black label Made in Japan example with the MN3205 chip, which is part of the later DM-2 production run. It still has the character people come to a DM-2 for—musical repeats, a touch of grit, and that unmistakably old-school BOSS analog feel. I am pricing this one a bit lower because the battery snap is missing, so it runs on external power only. If you already use vintage BOSS pedals and do not mind powering it properly, this is still a very cool way to get into a real MIJ DM-2 without paying top-tier collector pricing.
Accessories
Main unit only
This pedal does not have a battery snap, so it cannot be used with a battery. Please use a BOSS ACA adaptor or a compatible 12V center-negative adaptor only. PSA-type adaptors run at a lower voltage and may not power it correctly. The original DM-2 documentation shows the battery eliminator jack, and late-model MN3205 listings also identify these units as ACA-powered.
