This is Catalinbread's take on the Vox AC30 preamp in pedal form, and it's one of the more interesting overdrives I've owned. Tested and confirmed working.The concept is simple: four knobs (Gain, Volume, Treble, Bass), but what makes the CB30 different from a typical overdrive is the tone controls. They work like the tone stack on a real AC30. Crank both Treble and Bass and the mids scoop out, giving you that jangly British chime. Pull them back and you get a compressed mid-range with shimmery top-end. The interaction between the two knobs is fun to explore. Less like EQ and more like re-voicing the amp.One of the original knobs was missing, so I replaced all 4 with knobs from a different (broken) pedal, which I think looks pretty cool. Runs on 9V battery or standard center-negative supply (up to 18V if you want more headroom). Velcro on the back.
