The BOSS RC‑2 Loop Station is a compact digital looper housed in a standard compact pedal enclosure, offering advanced looping functionality in a pedalboard-friendly format. It enables up to 16 minutes of mono recording time, with the ability to store 11 separate loop phrases internally. You can record, overdub, and undo/redo layers on the fly, and it includes auto-start, rhythm-guide drum patterns, tap tempo, and loop quantise features—all controllable via intuitive knobs and switches on the pedal surface.
Connectivity options include an AUX input for importing external audio sources (such as backing tracks), a STOP/TEMPO jack for footswitch control, and a Mono IN and OUT. Phrase-level and guide-volume knobs make real-time mix control easy, while playback modes can be navigated via the MODE dial. The pedal draws about 50 mA at 9 V DC and features buffered bypass to maintain tone integrity in signal chains.
Though now discontinued, the RC‑2 remains a robust all-in-one looping unit for performers and songwriters, delivering a surprising amount of functionality in a space-efficient design. Its design integrates looping, rhythm guidance, and phrase storage seamlessly into a single stompbox, making it a versatile tool for practice, composing, or live use.
