Catalinbread - Karma Suture Silicon - Harmonic Fuzz based on the Harmonic Percolator, Based on one of the most mysterious fuzz boxes in effects history, the rare Interfax Harmonic Percolator fuzz/drive from the early 1970s, the Silicon Karma Suture runs the entire gamut of dirt flavors, from sparkling boost to edge of breakup overdrive to ripping fuzz textures and white-hot feedback. The original Karma Suture was based on a killer vintage dirt box which was designed to suppress odd-order harmonics while promoting even-order harmonics, generating a subconsciously pleasing distortion. Unlike the original Karma Suture germanium version, which utilized one germanium transistor to give it a characteristic sag, the silicon version uses two silicon devices instead of a hybrid of germanium and silicon, for some sharp-edged bite that the original simply doesn’t have. The silicon Karma Suture delivers a crushing amount of fuzz but with a lot of added harmonic content that brings out the definition in each note you play. Catalinbread has spiced up its take on the circuit, by adding two new knobs, Density and Diodes. Density drastically affects the bass response of the circuit, allowing rhythm players to harness the madness of the Suture just as easily as lead players. The clever Diodes control lets players mix the clipping in and out with the raw signal at their leisure. At full, the Diodes control cuts some volume but increases the overall gain by a large margin, while backing the control off opens up the pedal for a powerful shot of gain into your amp's arm. True to its roots, the Silicon Karma Suture cleans up unbelievably well, and this is the key to unlocking many of the pedal's secrets. The guitar's volume control and the pedal's input control are incredibly interactive, allowing for lots of experimentation with stacking and pedal order. Many folks thought that pedal innovators would be confined to remaking the same three dirt circuits for eternity, but for anyone ready to break out of the mold and into something truly outstanding and unique, there is the Silicon Karma Suture. And just like all other Catalinbread pedals, the Silicon Karma Suture is made by real people right here in Portland, Oregon. And don't miss Dennis Kayzer's incredible demo.
