Here is the version 1 of the Callisto analog chorus using the trusty mn3007 delay chip with thoughtful controls over the delay time (density) as well as mix, allowing 100% dry, wet or anywhere between. The density control is basically the manual control of a flanger and this allows very tight / short delay times that give this a very noticeable hint of flanging when slow and wide. It does not have a feedback or regen control but that comb-filtering sheen is there. I believe like many other CB pedals this uses a burr brown op amp and I expect some form of companding to prepare the signal for the delay Chip- whatever it all is, it sounds solid even if you go full-dry. The Density control yields the hints of flange when to the left (CCW) and lengthens the delay time as turned to the right (CW) making the depth more impactful (more pitch Vibrato / detune occurs). In some ways this does make the sound seem thicker and fuller, it also seems to let out the dry-attack slightly more than when the delay time is more instantaneous with the dry. Many chorus pedals have a fixed delay time, so this control lets you explore and customize your sound a bit, as well as the key to mimicking other chorus units. The waveform of this modulation is sort of unique, it is a sort of lopsided sine wave instead of a symmetrical sine or triangle, giving it a certain wobble and feel when going for Leslie sounds. If you're into pure Vibrato like the big purple diamond pedal.. that's probably more effective at just that, but for a sheeny shiny chorus that sounds modern and not cheesy, and runs dead-quiet, this is a high performer. You might be into their newer version which instead of a density control allows for some reged/feedback to get more flangey-. I personally like the purity of this vibrato machine. Many Vibratos can get a bit dull with all the filtering going on - but this one retains low and high end very nicely. It sounds great- only selling to fund some new bills.
