This pedal addresses the shortcomings of the original unit, such as the lack of a mix control, a sub-par preamp, and tone-sucking bypass signal.At its core, the Soft Focus is a heavily modified plate reverb with adjustable time, split into three distinct paths:Multi-Voiced Chorus Modulator: Adds lush modulation to the reverb.Octave-Up Mixed Reverb: Adds an octave-up effect to the reverb.Untouched Reverb Path: Keeps the reverb unaltered.Controls:Mod Knob: Adjusts the rate of the chorus on the first path.Symphony Knob: Controls the level of the octave on the second path.Reverb Time: Adjusts the decay time of the reverb.Mix Control: Allows for blending the wet and dry signals, a feature missing from the original FX500.The Soft Focus also features an improved preamp and true bypass to address the original unit's tone-sucking bypass signal issue.
