8 Stage shift register with linear feedback
Ruissellement takes signals from the Clock and Data inputs and sends them to comparators.
On each clock pulse the module turns the incoming Data into a logic High or Low and sends the previous value to the next stage of the shift register.
This train of pulses can be disturbed with “linear feedback” through an XOR gate.
This way the pulses can generate longer and weirder pseudo-random patterns. The best way to use the linear feedback is to patch one of the gate outputs back into the XOR input.
It is a process used in the Rungler, the chaotic circuit at the core of Rob Hordijk’s Benjolin.
Musically speaking, we have a way to generate 8 gates and 2 stepped CVs based on the even and odd gates. The outputs can go from canon style voice shifting to complex evolving patterns to chaotic behaviors depending on your patching style.
Random bit of technical aspect: the reset input features a gate to trigger converter. Very useful to keep the module from stopping.
Ruissellement excels at generative patching and feedback patching.
