Module is a 1U tile
This Module is currently available.
1U-WF: 1U Lockhart wavefolder
/!\ IMPORTANT /!\ - THIS MODULE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH INTELLIJEL 1U SYSTEMS; the panel has a height of approximately 43mm so make sure that it'll fit before buying. If your 1U rails have 'lips' then this module will not fit.
A 1U version of the Lockhart wavefolder as popularised by Ken Stone with his CGS-52 module. With a difference (or two)
With this module, it's possible to control the amount of current running through the positive and negative arms of the wavefolding section, which can lead to some interesting results irrespective of whether you're fettling audio or control voltages.
Unlike the 2HP version of this module, the output waveform can be mixed between the 'triangle' and 'pulse' outputs - not only does this give rise to more interesting sonic possibilities but it also eliminates the 'dead spots' where there's no square wave output. Keep in mind, though, that the depending on the biasing of the transistors you may not get anything out of the square output despite there being a folded waveform present. For best results, input waveforms should be at least 1.4V peak-to-peak in order to switch on the two transistors.
Works best with sine or triangle-based waveforms but there's nothing to stop you putting, well, anything into it - altering the level of the input signal can lead to some very interesting filter-like effects.
If you really want to fatten up a sound, run it through a low-pass filter (or any filter) before feeding it into the wavefolder. Works really well on basslines if you use a resonant filter.
With a bit of knob-twiddling, you can make it sound like this: https://yomo.interzen.co.uk/samples/cgs52.mp3
Panels are laser-cut and engraved 3mm perspex in opaque black. Mounting hardware (M3x6 machine screws) and a power cable are also supplied.
