Behringer Abacus Alternate Panel (Black)

DIY Panel for Behringer Abacus

This is an alternate FR4 panel for the Behringer Abacus, Behringer's clone of the popular Maths Eurorack module. It replaces Behringer's brash front panel design with something more utilitarian, recalling the module's original inspiration, the Serge DUSG.

Aside from the cleaned up graphics, the cycle button and ring led windows in the Behringer design have been exchanged for a more conventional button with a separate LED indicator above it.

These are purely aesthetic changes; this panel does not influence the operation of the module at all, which all things being said, are virtually identical to Maths.

This panel is a KIT! It requires some soldering and light assembly:

In order to make the faceplate seamless, the panel design features solderable screw terminals on the back. The seven terminals come with panel, but will have to be soldered on. This is fairly easy for someone with any soldering experience, but you will have to be careful as the screws need to line up.

The LED light guides for the cycle buttons push into place.

Finally the switch caps also push on.

Everything needed to assemble the panel (M3 screws, screw terminals, light guides, and button caps) come included with purchase. The first batch comes with grey, yellow, white, red and green cycle switch caps (2 of each).

The pictured potentiometer caps (knobs) are not part of the kit! These you will have to source yourself. And of course the Behringer Abacus is NOT included.

Be forewarned! This is a prototype, so the manufacturing is not up to commercial modules standard, but it is still quite nice for DIY. I'll answer any questions as best I can but I make no guarantees! Again, it's not a finished module, just the panel and parts.

A note on the current batch: The color (as pictured) is "pale" black, IMO a little bit lighter than usual FR4. The manufacturer says this is random, so I will update this message for future batches.
