Schlappi Engineering Angle Grinder — 18HPA deeply unusual all-analogue module from Schlappi Engineering that functions simultaneously as a quadrature sine wave oscillator, state variable filter, and nonlinear waveshaper — and behaves very differently depending on how it's patched.The SPIN section generates four phase-related sine waves at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270°, tracking 1V/oct across a range from sub-LFO speeds up to beyond 20kHz. These four outputs are pristine and phase-accurate on their own, making them ideal for quadraphonic panning, XY modulation, or smooth LFO duties.Feed a signal into the GRIND section and things get interesting: each phase is compared against the input and the resulting square waves are subtracted from it, producing complex sync-like metallic waveshapes at audio rate, or quadrature PWM at LFO rates. Patch the GRIND output back into SPIN and the module transforms into a state variable filter with low pass, band pass, high pass, and inverted band pass outputs — the DAMPING control managing the transition between oscillation and filtering. In filter mode the GRIND section becomes a nonlinear feedback network capable of harsh and unpredictable timbres.Four faders with corresponding CV inputs give per-phase control over the feedback paths, and an INJECT jack accepts a second input bypassing GRIND entirely.
