Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter (BIA) — 10HP (Discontinued)One of the most celebrated and widely used percussion modules in Eurorack, and a genuine modern classic. The Basimilus Iteritas Alter is a parameterised digital drum synthesizer built around six oscillators capable of additive and FM synthesis, with a noise oscillator for attack transients and Noise Engineering's signature "infinifold" wavefolder for extreme harmonic crunch.Three synthesis modes fundamentally change the character of the sound. Skin mode uses additive synthesis for organic, membrane-like tones — kicks, toms, and tuned percussion. Metal mode introduces cross-modulation between oscillators for complex, inharmonic metallic textures — hats, cymbals, clangs. Liquid mode produces dripping, wet percussive tones ideal for unusual rhythmic sound design. Mode selection is voltage controllable, so you can switch between them mid-sequence from a trigger or CV source. The Pitch and Spread controls set the fundamental frequency and offset the remaining five oscillators across harmonic series, while Harm controls the relative decay of each harmonic. A Bass/Alto/Treble range switch shifts the overall pitch register dramatically. Every parameter — pitch, decay, tone, fold, spread, attack, and mode — has a corresponding CV input, making the BIA deeply patchable as a fully voltage-controlled percussion voice.Equally capable of sub-shaking kicks, industrial snares, laser hats, and melodic basslines or leads when played pitched. Endorsed by Richard Devine and DJ Surgeon for good reason.Format: 10HP | 28mm depth | 80mA +12V / 5mA -12V
