Sonic Potions Penrose simple and elegant CV Quantizer for sequencer out of production discontinued somewhat rare and uncommon with elegant controls. My favorite quantizer, due to its simplicity and flexibility. I've tried and sold off more than a couple other quantizers due to their complexity, programming, and button pushing and unpredictability. This one has everything you need and nothing you don't. Powers up with the same notes that you left it on.Great for arpeggios. Can turn a slow LFO into a melody. Even better, take a mix of slow LFOs and get an (almost) non-repeating melody. Or put noise into the module and whatever trigger you like and do the whole sample and hold that turns into a totally non-repeating melodic sequence.Easy to use by just unlighting any discordant notes!I acquired three of these because I like them so much, they're discontinued and don't show up all that often. None available right now as I post this. But it's an embarrassment of riches at this point, and I only need two of them, so this one can be yours!OverviewPenrose is a simple CV quantizer DIY kit for the eurorack format. It takes an incoming continuous CV voltage and converts it to the nearest note in a scale. Active notes can be selected with the 12 buttons. You can use it to tune the output of your analog sequencer, as a semi random melody generator, for fast chiptune arpeggios and much more.High quality jacks and illuminated bi-color push buttons. The project is open source, so the schematic and source code is availableControls: Select the active notes. Active notes light up green, the currently played note redLights up when a gate signal is generatedInput: CV between 0V and 10VTrigger input: If a cable is connected, the output voltage will only change if a trigger is received. Otherwise the output is updated continuouslyGate output: A 5V signal is generated whenever the output voltage changes.Output: Quantized CV between 0V and 10VSaves selected notes: The module is equipped with an autosave feature. The selected notes are automatically saved to non volatile memory about 15 seconds after the last changes are made. This ensures that the module will always be in the same state after startup as it was before powering down your system.Firmware update: To update the firmware: The firmware can be updated by playing back a special audio file to the trigger in jack.Connect an audio player to the trigger in jackHold down the upper left button while turning the power onThe LED will start to flash redStart the playback of the firmware audio fileThe LED will change to flash green while the firmware update is in progressWhen the audio file has finished the quantizer will start with the new firmware.A constant red LED indicates a read error. Probably your output volume is too low.You can press the upper left button to try again. Some audio players are not loud enough. In that case use an additional amplifier/mixer between your player and the module.Specs:Current draw: +12V 60mA | -12V 2.5mAWidth: 6HP Depth: 40mmCV input voltage: 0-10VCV output voltage: 0-10VTERMS:Moving sale.Everything is priced to sell, I’ve had my fun and now it's your turn! This looks excellent to me, but judge for yourself. I'm kind of obsessive and very into condition, but you might be more OCD than me. If that’s you, maybe look for another one! No box, but you're going to use it, not keep it on a shelf, right?Legal- it's as described, but as is, no returns, good vibes only, sorry no demo. Shipping- Ships FedEx or UPS (usually), fast and with a real tracking number. I do also use the Post Office if the first two are outrageous.Insured, if requested or required. Continental US only unless negotiated otherwise. Let me know if you want me to require a signature for delivery. Default for me is no signature (but anything requiring insurance requires a signature)(I like to think I’ve priced it at the “give the man his money“ price. If you disagree, feel free to send me an offer. If it’s a good offer, I’ll try and respond quickly, but I've got a job and someone might scoop you, so you should just scoop it up now if you want it. That’s my recommendation. Don't wait! Ask me how I know....)
