Coron DS-8 percussion synthesizer clone
from drum-mounted percussion synthesizer to Eurorack voice:
Inspired by the early-1980s Coron DS-8 percussion synthesizer, this Eurorack module captures the character of a classic drum-mounted analog synth while embracing the flexibility of modular synthesis. The original DS-8 used a piezo trigger attached to an acoustic drum to drive a voice built from a VCO, pitch sweep, noise source, and OTA VCA. This adaptation replaces the piezo front end with Eurorack (adjustable) trigger and CV connectivity, opening up the design for sequencing, modulation, and experimentation.
Capable of deep kicks, electronic toms, noisy snares, laser zaps, and evolving percussion textures, it preserves the straightforward analog architecture that made the original so distinctive while extending it far beyond its original purpose.
Various tweaks can set basic VCO frequency, sweep depth/angle and LFO speeds.
Controls: decay-, sweep-, LFO speed-, LFO amount-, VCO frequency-, noise pan-pots; noise color-switch.
Inputs: trigger-in, CV-in.
Output; audio.
9.25 hp (42mm) - approx. 4 cm deep.
Power: 4-5 mA ; 15 mA peak
