ModularGrid Description
A 4‑lane modular sequencer combining a bouncing‑ball style rhythm generator, a chord‑aware CV/Gate engine, and per‑lane AutoTune for 1V/Oct VCOs.
Each lane runs an independent 16‑step U‑shaped track where LED “balls” circulate; a Gate is generated “when the ball enters the bottom‑left position” (quoted from the document).
This creates evolving, semi‑random rhythmic structures unlike linear step sequencers.

Lane Engine
4 independent lanes, each with:
* 1–16 balls (auto‑distributed when increased)
* Speed 1–99 (ball movement rate)
* Octave 1–3
* ARP modes: Off / Up / Down

Ball count and speed interact to create stable or chaotic patterns.
Lanes can swap parameters or ball patterns for fast variation.

Chord Sequencer
* 4‑chord progression with editable Root, Modifier, Steps.
* Supported chord types include Maj, Maj7, min, min7, aug, dim, sus4, add9, etc.
* The active chord is marked with “@”.
* Each lane outputs a different chord tone (e.g., for CMaj: C–E–G–C).
* ARP mode can cycle chord tones per lane.

CV/Gate Output
* Per‑lane CV OUT follows the current chord tone + octave.
* Gate OUT is 10 ms fixed.
* CV‑MIX OUT outputs the CV of the lowest‑numbered lane currently gating (ARP ignored).
* GATE‑MIX OUT mixes all lane gates.

Clocking
* Internal BPM or external CLK‑IN (4ppqn).
* External clock overrides internal BPM.
* TRIG‑IN can randomize chord parameters.

AutoTune
* Per‑lane automatic tuning for 1V/Oct VCOs.
* Requires routing CV OUT → VCO pitch, and VCO audio → TUNE IN.
* Works only with clean basic waveforms.
* During tuning, “GATE OUT is forced OFF”.

Performance Controls
* 4 encoders for navigation, editing, randomization, lane swapping, ARP toggling, and transport control.
* Random functions allow generative rhythmic and harmonic evolution.
