TLBX is a tiny and flexible utility module in only 2HP that packs a lot of functionality in a small footprint. It can precisely mix, mult, add, subtract and multiply input signals in many different combinations enabled by clever normalization. Built with tight tolerance components, it works with both audio and precise CV. It is skiff-friendly and the perfect utility toolbox to squeeze into any tightly packed case.
At its core, TLBX is simple. It consists of three main sections: MULT, MIX and DIFF:
MULT is a 1-to-2 precision multiple. If you plug nothing into the input, the outputs will act as 1V and 5V voltage reference. Both references are calibrated are very precise - the 1V reference even has an error of less than 1mV and can be used to calibrate other modules or for precise octave transposition.
MIX is a 2-to-1 mixer or precision adder. The second input is normalized to the first one, enabling it to be used as a precise 2x voltage multipler.
DIFF is a 2-to-2 precision adder/subtractor. The first output is the sum of the inputs, the second output the difference.
All the sections can be used independently - however, they are also cleverly normalized to each other. This normalization expands the functionality of the module to far more than just the pure sum of its parts.
TLBX can be used as multiple with up to five outputs, as a mixer with 5 inputs or anything in between. It can multiply voltages by fixed factors and offset them by the inbuilt precision voltage references. It can transpose pitch CV up or down by 1 or 2 octaves and can accomplish voltage range conversion in between 0-5V, -5-5V and 0-10V. It can even be used as a comparator - what makes TLBX truely special is its flexibility in a tiny footprint.
