6 step sequential switch
6-step sequential switch.
This module was mostly designed to pair with my Big Dumb and Bigger Dumber sequencers, allowing you to chain the channel outputs for up to 72 and 96 step sequences, but I think it is still useful on its own.
On the positive transition of a signal applied to CLOCK the count advances by one and the next SwI/O jack is connected to the SwCOM jack and the associated GATE OUT goes high.
The switch is bidirectional so you can use the SwCOM jack to output one of 6 inputs or send one signal to one of 6 destinations. Note there is approx 1k resistance between the SwCOM jack and the active I/O jack.
The rising edge of a positive signal on RESET sends the count back to 1 at any time.
The GATE OUT per step can be used to clock/trigger/control other modules but can also be patched to the RESET input for sequences shorter than 6 steps.
Patching GATE OUT 5 to RESET gives you a 4 step sequence, for example.
I like having dividers in my system that can do patterns that aren't multiples of 4 so the gate outs are good for injecting some 3/4 timing into your rhythms.
The switching is done by solid state relays (sort of like a MOSFET vactrol). I tried a few kinds and settled on Cosmo brand KAQY214STLD because they were cheap and performed as well or better at audio frequency than some of the more expensive ones I tried in the same package. They don't seem to be super common so if buying PCB+panel I have an option to include the relays to save you a shop.

These merchants probably sell this module. Huh?
