Stereo Processor/Classic Sampler Filter

Poet Selector is a hybrid digital/analog module that combines a digital section consisting of a Digital Filter, Stereo Utility, and Lo-fi Processor with the analog switched-capacitor filter module originally used in the Akai S612.

A defining feature of the digital section is the Preset Selector, which allows presets to be continuously loaded and morphed simply by turning a knob.

With Firmware V2, the engine has been completely redesigned from the ground up. By processing all 8 presets and Live mode simultaneously, the module now delivers much smoother and more stable morphing. In addition, many new features have been added, including the Z Functions (Freeze / Tapestop / Reverse / Scratch), a Phaser, and a Transient Shaper using an analog compander IC.

I hope the reborn Poet Selector will help you shape a wide variety of textures and stereo images.

Detailed manual and V2 firmware are available from the support page below:

moddict Support Page

▫️Digital Filter
Three filter types are available: Highpass, Bandpass, and Allpass, selectable using the Bandpass button.
The Disable button instantly bypasses the filter.

▫️Stereo Utility
Features stereo panning, independent left/right inversion, and a Stereo Imager.
The Stereo Imager supports both mono narrowing and stereo widening, and has been further improved in Firmware V2.
By combining the Pan CV Attenuator with the CV Alternate button, CV can be applied relative to either the current panel state or stored preset state.

▫️Lo-fi Processor
Includes bit reduction and sample rate reduction.
By blending gritty digital textures using the Preset Selector and Morph functions, then shaping them with the downstream analog filter, a wide range of sonic textures can be created.

▫️Analog Filter
A stereo implementation of the analog switched-capacitor filter used in the Akai S612.
It has a distinctive character with fixed resonance.

▫️Z Function
The following modes can be accessed in combination with the CV Alternate button:

CV Alternate + Disable = Freeze [Disable LED blinking]
CV Alternate + L Inv = Tapestop [L Inv LED blinking]
CV Alternate + R Inv = Reverse [R Inv LED blinking]
CV Alternate + Live = Scratch [Live LED blinking]

During Z Function modes, the PAN CV Alternate control becomes the dedicated Z Knob for additional mode-specific control.

The button combos are designed to be intuitive and performance-friendly:
short press = alternate mode
long press = momentary mode

Please refer to the manual for more details.

▫️Z CV Mode
Press CV Alternate + Save to enter Z CV Mode, allowing CV inputs to be reassigned to Stereo Imager and Z Functions.
Please see the manual for details.

▫️Effects
CV Alternate + Bandpass button = Phaser mode
CV Alternate + Morph button = Transient Shaper mode

In each mode, the Pan CV Alternate control becomes a dedicated parameter control.

▫️Preset Selector
The signature feature of the module, allowing up to 8 presets to be stored, recalled, switched, and morphed.
Presets can be written and loaded freely by moving the Preset Selector knob to any position.

When the Preset Selector is at minimum, or when the Live button is pressed, the module instantly returns to the current panel state.

The Morph button determines whether transitions between panel states and presets occur instantly or smoothly morph over time.

Z Functions can also be stored inside presets, enabling highly flexible performance possibilities.
