Audio Buffer
NON-LINEAR MEMORY MACHINE
The Non-Linear Memory Machine is an audio buffer device. In a short scale the NLMM is capable of creating alien phaser type sounds to reverb and delays and a frippertronics/ time lag accumulator style looping.
FUNCTIONS / CONTROLS
TIME/SCRUB
the time/scrub knob controls the delay or latency of the signal. This can span from a few milliseconds to up to 16 seconds, depending on the Buffer Range selector. Unlike any digital or analog delay when Modulated the pitch of the signal doesn’t drift in pitch. Instead it compresses and expands time in interesting textures via a custom timestretching algorithm. When freeze is activated via the freeze button this knob functions as a manual scroll through the buffer ala old school granular samplers. (akai s950)
SMEAR
Randomizes the time control adding random jitters to the playhead and diffuses the signal in such a way that can be utilized as a reverb effect. (experiment with the time knob and feedback knob to create your very own glitchy reverbs)
PITCH
Pitch shifts the signal +- 1 octave. This knob snaps to 5ths and an octave but you can dial it in between intervals. Nice crunchy aliasing when shifting down.
DRY/WET
Crossfades between the dry signal and processed wet signal.
FEEDBACK
Feedback feedbacks the delayed signal back into the input. Crank it up when in Medium or Long mode to experiment with sound on sound type techniques.
BUFFER RANGE
switch between delay ranges according to the list below.
SHORT
MEDIUM
LONG
FREEZE
The Freeze button acts as a sustanado button but also you can scroll through the buffer with the time/scrub knob when activated.
