The Drum Maker Eurorack PCB and Front Panel Kit is a DIY drum synthesis module designed to transform an external VCO into a flexible drum sound generator. By shaping pitch, filtering, and amplitude, Drum Maker allows you to create everything from deep bass drums and punchy kick sounds to tom-like percussive elements.

Drum Synthesis & Sound Shaping

Drum Maker generates percussive sounds by applying a pitch slide to an external VCO, followed by filtering and amplitude shaping. The integrated low-pass filter includes adjustable cutoff and envelope amount, allowing precise control over tonal character, while the VCA shapes the final amplitude with its own attack and decay controls.

While sine waves are commonly used for bass drum synthesis, using square or other waveforms opens up harmonically rich and more aggressive drum textures.
Integration & Patching

To use Drum Maker within a Eurorack system:

Connect your VCO’s 1V/Oct and Sync inputs to the module’s CV outputs
Route the VCO’s audio output to VCO In
Trigger the module using a gate signal patched into Gate In

For more dynamic performance, additional CV sources can be used to externally modulate the Tune and Cutoff parameters.

Due to the nature of the design, the module may capture the VCO waveform at slightly different phases, subtly affecting transient behavior. Connecting the VCO’s Sync input can help minimize this effect for more consistent results.
