dSpec is a 22HP dual VCO Eurorack module with at total of 11 modulation points and a 1.5 inch RGB OLED display. Two identical oscillators have seperate volt-per-octave inputs and audio outputs.The oscillators have an 8 octave range from A0 (27.5Hz) to C8 (4.186KHz).
dSpec's synthesis engine is based on additive spectral synthesis. It constructs an audio spectrum algorithmically in
real-time from as many as 1024 sine waves. CV and spectral resynthesis modulation inputs then shape the audio spectrum. The synthesis engine can optionally add noise to the audio spectrum before converting it to a waveform. Each oscillator generates two waveforms that when slightly de-tuned to add fullness or a chorus effect.
CV controlled low-pass and comb filters operate directly on the audio spectrum. Filtering is scaled appropriately so the
generated waveform shape is consistent across the oscillator's frequency range. An odd/even mix CV control adjusts the relative amplitudes of odd and even harmonics. Although the CV inputs modulate both oscillators simultaneously, each oscillator has its own input for spectral resynthesis modulation.
dSpec's built-in quantizer supports predefined and user defined scales. Of course quantization can be turned off.
The synthesis engine algorithms and built-in quantizer are configured from the UI via a clickable rotary encoder.
The UI can also display the waveforms and audio spectrums for each of the audio outputs.
