The tone can be clean when the gain knob is turned down but becomes distorted when overdriven as the output starts hard clipping when pushed.
I've designed the output signal to clips at modular audio level (+/- 5V) so you can get that blown out heavy metal vocal effect without losing headroom.
I love the effect of masking lyrics when playing live with the saturation and distortion as you can create vibes and emotion without really saying real words..... just what comes out a run with it... nothing is wrong, only our perception of it.
The high gain and dynamic range are also great for working with AMSR or LOFI field recording.
The module has an onboard microphone and can also be used with the wired microphone that comes included. The switch allows for selection between the different microphones.
The Microphones have a sensitivity of -55db and a range up to 20kHz.
There is also a LED behind the panel to make it possible to monitor your signal.
