An analog preamp and equalizer pedal resurrecting the input circuit of a stellar tape echo.
The EQ-201 is a faithful analog recreation of the transistor preamp found within a famous green tape echo unit. The signal path is entirely analog. But while the preamp itself is faithful, we’ve added some extras to get the most out of it: a bonus Baxandall EQ section (stolen from the echo), 9V or 18V operation, a switchable input buffer, and soft-touch bypass. With these features, the pedal can be anything from a gentle tone shaper to dirty treble boost to a full-on sputtering distortion. And as with our other pedals, the EQ-201 is in a small 1590B enclosure with top-mount jacks.
