British amp grind meets thundering fuzz
A dual-section gain pedal pairing a JFET British-amp emulation with an op-amp fuzz, designed to run independently or stacked.
AMP section: JFET circuitry inspired by a late-'60s/early-'70s British head (Orange OR120). Runs internally at 34V DC (boosted from the 9V input) for high headroom, wide dynamic range, and amp-like low end. Spans clean and edge-of-breakup through thick saturation. Controls include F.A.T. (Fatness Adjustment Tweak), shaping bass and low-mid feed into the gain stages, which operates inverted versus the original amp circuit, and H.F.D. (High Frequency Dynamics), adding presence and upper-harmonic bite to keep high-gain settings articulate.
FUZZ section: Inspired by Frantone Peachfuzz, a '90s boutique design driven by power-amp ICs rather than transistor or diode clipping, giving a thick, harmonically complex, overdriven-output-stage character. Two voicings: RAW (open, tight low end, clear mids) and BURN (deeper bass, longer sustain, heavier). Bass response refined for better band-mix placement.
Routing: Each section stands alone as a complete voice or stacks for a unified wall of gain. A passive effects loop sits between the two sections for flexible routing. Pushing extreme settings or stacking can induce sag or blocking distortion, musical or chaotic depending on use, intentional for stoner and doom territory.
