Delay
Hey, It's a delay.
It has self oscillation.
No modulation.
Ambient feedback.
Darkened repeat filter stack.
A Haiku attack.
I give up, writing the description in Haiku is a really fucking stupid and terrible, terrible idea.
Here we go again...
Catastrophic delay is a PT2399 based digital delay, that behaves like an analog one.
If you (manually) change the delay time it will pitch shift the repeats.
It has a wet / dry mix that leaves your clean signal intact.
It also has a tone control that only effects the repeats, also leaving your clean signal alone. You can crank up the treble to keep your repeats pristine and stop them getting muddy, or darken them up for a more BBD style sound.
But where this delay excels is the self oscillation. It's very ambient and ethereal. It inhabits that area in self oscillating delay pedals that is so difficult to get right - teetering on the edge of destruction. Don't get me wrong though, it's called catastrophic delay for a reason and it can go over the edge, plunging into the abyss without hesitation.
It really responds nicely to volume control and keeping the repeats contained is as easy as rolling back your volume knob.
