The TS808 35th Anniversary Overdrive Pedal is a painstaking reproduction of the 1979 narrow-box Overdrive Pro TS808. It uses the same pair of 1458 chips as the original, so you get more distortion than later versions of the Tube Screamer. And, like the original, the level/volume control is labeled “Balance,” and its external power jack is next to the input jack. The pedal features a removable bottom plate instead of a plastic battery cover.An original 1979 “narrow-box” TS808 will cost you a fortune (if you can track one down and convince its owner to part with it), but you can get all of the authentic tone and all of the vintage vibe from this amazing reproduction — at a fraction of the cost. There are two very light/minimal scratches to mention, which are on the back metal battery cover. It arrived that way from the manufacturer. Otherwise, it is in fantastic condition, it has been lovingly maintained, never been gigged, and has never left the house.
