Plug into the fuzz and enjoy six decades of beautiful yet destructive sound. In the mid-1960s, Victoreen Instruments?the worldfs first nuclear power company?launched Jordan Electronics. They began by manufacturing transistor guitar amplifiers and debuted the Boss Tone, the first commercially successful plug-in effect in the U.S., at the 1966 NAMM Show, though it didnft hit the market until 1967.At the time, fuzz was still uncharted territory for most guitarists, and there was nothing on the market that looked or sounded like the Boss Tone (a true testament to the ingenuity of Jordan Electronics owner George Cole and chief engineer Bob Garcia).The original unit was a small, molded plastic box measuring 1? ~ 2? inches that could be plugged directly into a guitarfs output jack. Unfortunately, since plug-in effects lack the practicality of good-old-fashioned stompboxes, we created a floor-based pedal featuring the same unique tone.
