Here's a genuinely rare piece of MXR history — a Dyna Comp housed in the original Bud Industries CU-124 aluminum enclosure (stamped Willoughby, Ohio), the format used by MXR in the earliest years of production before they transitioned to their signature die-cast boxes.The Bud Box Dyna Comp is among the most sought-after versions of this legendary compressor, and examples in this configuration are increasingly difficult to find. This one appears to be completely all-original and unmodified throughout.The PCB carries the early MXR board layout with period-correct components throughout, including original capacitors, resistors, and what appears to be the original OTA chip. Both potentiometers are stamped MXR (MXR9741 and MXR9469) with date codes consistent with 1970s production. The footswitch is the original early MXR mechanical switch, the output jack is original hardware, and the battery snap and red/black wiring all appear untouched. There is no evidence of re-housing, modifications, or component swaps anywhere in the unit.The enclosure shows honest patina and road wear consistent with its age — including the characteristic pencil/scratch markings on the interior floor seen on many vintage MXR units.
