Look up onThe original. Before there was a Tube Screamer, there was Maxon — and the OD808 is their own version of the circuit they built for Ibanez in 1979. Touch-sensitive, smooth overdrive with bluesy transparency, built around the legendary JRC4558D chip — doubles as a clean boost to push amps on the edge of breakup. Features: • Overdrive, Tone, and Balance controls • Distortion occurs within the amplifier circuit itself, yielding smoother, more natural-sounding overdrive than a separate clipping stage • True bypass • Made in JapanCondition: Good used — fully functional. Front face in good shape. Knobs are aftermarket replacements, not original (silver/chrome style, vs. stock black rubber). Bottom has significant paint scratching visible in photos, plus velcro strips. No original box.The genuine article — same circuit, same chip, same manufacturer as the original 1979 pedal. Original black knobs are inexpensive and easy to source if you want to restore the look.
