Offer Details

The MXR SF01 Slash Octave Fuzz (often referred to interchangeably by its model number SF01 or its internal circuit abbreviation) is an all-analog, multi-voice effects unit designed in collaboration with guitar icon Slash. It is engineered to combine a searing '70s-style shaggy fuzz with thunderous sub-octave growl and biting high-frequency octave-up tones.Three Independent Voices: The pedal allows you to blend a heavy primary fuzz, a Sub-Octave (one octave down), and an Octave Up voice to create massive, three-octave thick walls of sound.Sub Into Fuzz Switch: A small button on the face of the pedal dictates routing. When engaged, it forces the sub-octave signal directly into the high-gain fuzz circuit for a highly aggressive, texturized growl. When disengaged, the sub-octave remains clean and tracks like a classic, warm analog sub-bass pedal.Footswitches: The right footswitch acts as the master bypass. The left footswitch dynamically kicks the Octave Up voice in and out of the signal chain, giving you an instant boost for psychedelic, piercing solos.Control Layout & InterfaceVolume: Controls the overall output level of the primary effect.Tone: Adjusts the high-cut / mid-frequency sweep of the main fuzz to control bite.Fuzz: Dictates the amount of saturation and sustain on the main guitar voice.Sub Octave: Blends the volume of the low octave signal into the mix.Octave Up: Dial for adding upper-register harmonic sizzle.Internal Pots: Hidden under the bottom plate are two internal trim pots (Gain and Tone) specifically dedicated to fine-tuning the intensity and EQ of the Octave Up voice. The controls on the MXR SF01 Slash Octave Fuzz have a reputation for being quirky and counterintuitive because the pedal breaks standard layout conventions. Guitarists often find the control scheme "weird" due to several distinct design choices.Unlike almost every other pedal on Earth, the master Volume knob does not always control the volume of the pedal. Its function completely shifts depending on the status of the "Sub Into Fuzz" button:When the button is OUT: The Volume knob acts as a clean blend for your dry, bypassed guitar signal, allowing you to pass pure, clean tone alongside a clean sub-octave.When the button is IN: The Volume knob suddenly morphs into a standard master volume for the fuzz circuit. Be aware before purchasing. It takes some getting used to. There is no dedicated "Fuzz On/Off" footswitch. To get a standard, standalone fuzz sound without any sub-octave tracking beneath it, you have to engage the pedal, click the "Sub Into Fuzz" button in, and manually turn the Sub Octave knob all the way down to zero.
