JHS Unicorn V2 Uni-Vibe clone. It uses photocell technology with tap tempo for the effect. It has a Dry/Wet switch for toggling between the classic Univibe sound (Hendrix / Trower) and a vibrato sound. There is also a Ratio knob for further control of the effect rate, and a side jack for tap tempo or expression control from a remote device. You can determine which one it should be via an internal switch, which I have never used (I have never opened this pedal up).I bought this a couple of years ago when I was a bit infatuated with Robin Trower's guitar work. This went on for a little while, during which I found that my cover band wasn't nearly as into it as I was, since the classic Univibe sound didn't really fit in with the majority of the classic rock stuff we did (and still do). It's only been outside my home a few times. Most pedalboard nerds will tell you that this should go first in your signal chain. I've had it before and after drives, and I kind of agree with the nerds on this one. If it's first, you are dirtying up a modulated signal, as opposed to modulating a dirty signal (which sounds very different and, while cool, might have fewer applications). However, like me, you might have other pedals jockeying for first-in-the-chain (fuzz, envelope filter, compressors, even a tuner), so you might have to make some decisions. This is a well-made pedal with a lot of flexibility. However, my brain is tiny, and I'd rather have pedals that do one or two things amazingly well, rather than pedals that do a lot of things amazingly well. Comes with the actual box, packing confetti, instructions, and tiny feet.
