If unfamiliar with this amp simply think of early Pete Townshend and Jimi Hendrix with their huge Marshall stacks. ZVEX landed on the map of guitar effects because of its Fuzz Factory, but continued to gain a following with its Box of Rock, which emulates the 1966 Marshall JTM45.” “Zvex is an amazing company. Their distortions and fuzz pedals are almost like living animals. I have a fat fuzz factory and the only chance I’ll ever sell it is if I buy an upgraded model. I absolutely love that thing. It’s really wild. Nothing else sounds like it. It’s almost a synth. But yeah Box of Rock is a classic.” “The Box of Rock is a godsend to me. If I could play as loud as I wanted I wouldn't really need it. But as we all know, we have to compromise on our volume levels. The BoR allows me to compromise on the volume level without compromising on my tone. It sounds and feels and acts like my 4-input Marshall does when it's turned up. It takes to pedals really well. Stack an OD, fuzz, or boost in front of the BoR just like you would into an amp. And yes, I think it works fabulous in front of Fenders. I use a Pro Jr. and a Custom Vibrolux Reverb with it. And as Troy T's video clips show, you can turn a Fender into a pretty convincing Marshall fire breathing monster with it. I was hoping for a pedal that could do what the BoR was for a long time. After going through a bunch of different pedals......... well, I plugged the BoR in at the store and hit one chord and knew that this was it. And now the honeymoon period is over and if anything, I'm even more amazed and impressed by it. Oh, and the independent Boost side is the best clean boost I myself have ever personally heard.”
