The Origin Effects M-EQ Driver is a compact boutique guitar pedal designed as a modern reinterpretation of classic 1950s Pultec-style studio equaliser units. It combines mid-focused EQ shaping with a low-gain overdrive circuit, using a design that allows the signal to be gently pushed into harmonic saturation through a push-pull style output stage inspired by vintage studio gear.
It features a control set centred around drive, level, midrange boost and high-frequency cut, along with a selectable mid-frequency switch that lets the user choose different midrange emphasis points. An additional "Adapt" function alters how the high-frequency roll-off behaves in response to playing dynamics and guitar volume changes, making the pedal highly responsive to touch and input strength.
Built in the UK, the M-EQ Driver uses high-headroom circuitry and buffered bypass switching to maintain signal integrity across complex pedalboards. Its core design focuses on shaping midrange presence while adding subtle compression and saturation, making it function both as an EQ tool and a tone-enhancing drive stage within a guitar signal chain.
