The WH1 is the very first Whammy pedal, produced between 1989 and 1993, and now considered a cult classic: it’s a digital pitch shifter controlled by an expression pedal that allows you to raise or lower the pitch by up to two octaves, create harmonies, or add detune effects, with a very distinctive sound—slightly “glitchy” and imperfect (as it is monophonic)—that has become a signature tone in alternative and experimental rock.
