Electro‑Harmonix Soul Preacher Compressor/Sustainer is a compact compressor and sustainer pedal that shapes your guitar or bass dynamics by tightening up peaks and extending sustain, while still letting your playing feel natural and expressive. It uses an analogue circuit with true bypass so your clean signal stays intact when the effect is off.
You get three main controls plus a toggle switch: Volume sets the overall output level, Sustain adjusts how much compression and long sustain you hear, and the Attack knob combined with a three‑position attack switch lets you dial how quickly the compression reacts—from fast, punchy response, through medium smoothness, to slow, more rounded compression. The pedal engages with a sturdy footswitch and lights an LED when active.
Physically it's housed in a rugged die‑cast chassis, powered by a 9 V battery (included) or an optional 9 V DC adaptor, and uses standard ¼‑inch input and output jacks. The fast attack setting reacts in about 20 ms, medium about 50 ms, and slow about 100 ms, affecting how quickly the compressed signal settles after each pick. Maximum gain reduction and gain figures are set for flexible dynamic control in many playing situations.
