Description

Famously used by Daft Punk on tracks like "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and "One More Time". This is a late 90s example of the Digitech Talker, a pedal vocoder that for a time was the only pedal of its kind. I think it was mostly used by guitarists who wanted the old-school talkbox effect without having to stick a vibrating plastic tube in their mouth but it also works for bass, keys, or pretty much any instrument with a standard 1/4-inch output. You connect a regular vocal microphone to the mic input, your guitar (or other instrument) to the instrument input, send the instrument output to your amp, and (if necessary) a mic thru/output to the PA. You can switch between sending the effect to the amp, PA, or both. (The bottom of the unit has basic instructions for connectivity and use.) Set your levels and choose the type of effect ("Program"; I personally most often used "AutoTalk"). Once activated, you play and "sing" into the mic at the same time. Your instrument signal is affected by the formant created by your voice. You do NOT have to be a good singer or even be on pitch.I am the original owner. I bought this new in 1998. It has been gigged and seen some studio use, but it is in excellent and fully functional condition. The power supply is not original, but is an exact match for the pedal's specs and works perfectly.
