The TC Electronic JIMS 800 Preamp is a bold nod to the golden age of British amp tone, capturing the growl, bite and punch of a hot-rodded JCM800 in a compact, road-ready format. It’s part of TC’s Ampworx series, designed to deliver true amp feel and response without the bulk of a full head and cab. With two fully independent channels, you can go from crunchy rhythm to searing lead with a tap, all while maintaining that unmistakable midrange bark and tight low-end thump. The design is unmistakably TC: built like a tank, smartly laid out and engineered for both live and studio setups. The result is a preamp pedal that’s as versatile as it is ferocious, whether run straight into a power amp, audio interface or the front of another rig.
Spec-wise, the JIMS 800 offers dual channels with individual Gain, Level, Bass, Middle and Treble controls, plus a shared Presence control on the rear panel for fine-tuning overall brightness. There’s a dedicated Boost footswitch with a Pre/Post toggle, allowing you to add gain before the preamp or volume after it. The built-in DI output includes a Celestion G12-65 4x12 cabinet simulation, ideal for direct recording or live use without a cab. Other features include a headphone output, line out, USB connection for firmware updates and a rugged metal chassis built to withstand stage abuse. It runs on a 9V DC power supply (300 mA), with an input impedance of 1 MΩ and output impedance of 1 kΩ. Compact and fiercely capable, the JIMS 800 brings the spirit of a roaring stack into a pedalboard-friendly box.
